Swisschamp + Skinth S Shield?
on: November 06, 2014, 11:55:48 AM
So I can't get the Swisschamp out of my head and Christmas is coming soon.

I was wondering if any of you SAK gurus have tried to fit a SC.

http://www.sakwiki.com/tiki-index.php?page=SwissChamp

Into a Skinth Small Shield?

http://skinthsolutions.com/product/s-shield/#!prettyPhoto

The description of the Shield says up to 7 layers of SAK will fit and according to SAKwiki the SC as you prolly know already is 8 layers.

Not really what you asked, but some frame of reference.  I have a Skinth M Shield.  I can get my CT Lite (.5mm thicker than the SC, left my SC in the car and my wife has the car  ) in there and still have room for a Rambler in one of the side pockets.  Granted, the M Shield is a little tall for it, but just showing the thickness.

Hopefully someone can answer your actual question :)

Hmm. Made this topic before I found the goodness of CT Lite which is what I will get instead of the SC.....for now.

Would love some kind of sheath either leather of nylon that fits just the CT. Something small.

Thanks for the picture though.

I do have a Vic leather sheath that I got with my SC.  Elastic sides, leather covered belt clip.

Not as robust or slim as a Skinth, but maybe a backup option.  Or something to use while you wait for a Skinth.

33206 Victorinox Zermatt Leather Pouch - Large

33206 It's declared for SAKs till the CyberToll 34, but SwissChamp fits perfectly (tight, but smooth in/out ), when pouch is broken in (the same day you got it :D)

That Zermatt pouch is at the top of my must buy short list. Prolly should get my CT or SC first I guess.

Looking over my Swiss Champ/Champion sheaths from over the years and I like this simple one the best.  Bought in the 80's from a SAK distributor named Cutticut (SP).  I wish I had a dozen.

It's one piece and fits a Champion like a glove.

I keep my Cybertool34 in this SC XL sheath along with a Vic Flash Drive.

Definitive answer is yes! The SC will fit into the Skinth S-Shield. Not much else in it but it will.

I have yet to pick me up a sheath for my CT34 or Swisschamp but I need to.  I dont want one too big but it would be nice to have a second small pocket for either another smaller sak like a Super Tinker or a Olight flashlight that is currently on my keys.  Any recommendations are appreciated.

Pretty sure the Skinth Small Shield has side pockets for AAA lights. Would be easy enough to look on Eric's website to find out for sure.

I love my Olight. It rides in my regular old Leatherman nylon sheath with my Wave at the moment.  :tu:

Yup. However, the SC or CT's extra girth will take up most of the space. Flat prybars or other smaller items would work.

Probably a M-shield will do you well. (Sorry for hijacking the thread folks!)

Okay, I will look them over.  Can you show or tell me that the belt clip setup looks like?

Thx.

There is a good picture in this thread of a medium shield with a SC or CT in it.

On Eric's website there is some good pictures of the clip set up. It is a metal clip type arrangement. Done a lot of reading on it and people say it is very good easy to put on but no worries of it coming off.

This has been my experience as well, and I've carried the sheath on a couple different belts (one leather, one nylon). I freaking LOVE the belt clips that Eric uses. :tu:

This is something I use to be worried about. Losing the sheath and my SAK or MT to it falling off.

Not so much anymore after reading tons of people praising the clip.

Very much looking forward to ordering two or three Shields when I get home assuming I like the fit and finish of the P2. Again based on everyone here and on EDC i am sure I will.

Just ordered an M-Shield for my knife.  How long do these usually take to arrive?

I'm a little worried about the 4" depth, but I wanted the wider body.  Figured I can always put something in the bottom to keep my knife from sinking too far.

That's what I do.  It's usually a wrapped up AAA batt (spare for my flashlight).  The bonus is you could also use it for other MTs, but a SAK does sink in pretty far without something in the bottom.

Now it does take about a month to get, based on what other people are reporting, as it's a small operation and he takes a lot of orders.  But I don't think you'll find anyone who's unhappy with theirs.
