Fb page seems to be a lot more photos and a lot less action. Totally okay with that though, it's nice to scroll through EDC'S now and then.
I'd have to agree on both..

I just threw my old collection photos on there. I do need to take newer photos...but when isn't that the case.  :-[

Yeah but I find the excitement of this stuff just "showing up" on my feed much better than searching for it!!

So it seems like we have two distinctive MTO groups- those that prefer the forum and those that prefer FB with a little bit of carry over between the two.

Sounds like a great opportunity to start an MTO softball team- FB Users versus Forumites!

I have not seen the Fb site yet, but I would assume that the people in the actual forum will be more "Hard Core" and less likely to wonder why some collect more than others.

That's not fair Dan.  No one puts you in the crazy house but us!   :pok:

I don't mind sharing my collection, but I find it goes a lot better piece by piece.  I don't know if it's the whole "He's showing off by posting so many" or if it's that people feel like they are being educated since I usually include a write up about the individual piece, or maybe it's just less overwhelming, but I have always found the giant collection photos don't get such a great response.

Of course, neither do a lot of my individual knife/tool threads either, so what do I know?  :P

I know the feeling Def. Look at that weapons centric thread I made in the general section. That was 2 full days of work on my part, and very little interest.

Sorry, I do tend to make a big splash...just trying to drum up some interest and movement over on the facebook page.  :salute:

In the future try one tool per thread.  Big threads like that one are overwhelming and hard to respond to.

Yes, I know. I just thought it would be convenient to have everything under one thread. Guess I will have to break things down in the future.

I must say that I love that thread, though I haven't posted that in it. :(  Personally, I prefer reading through the big threads like that, but Def is right ( :ahhh ) as they don't seem to draw as much discussion.  There's a ton of info in there, so it does kind of make it harder to discus, but it's visually fantastic looking at the pictures, and reading all the info like that.

But the thread is there for future reference, and that's what makes this place the biggest Multitool resource in the entire Interweb..  :salute: :tu:

Agreed! This place is full of discussion and reference material. I've noticed when I post anything that's got a fair bit of info, comments are usually slow and discussion limited. There was actually more discussion and comments in my plier ergo's thread than I expected for a thread of that type ... which reminds me, I still need to do more in that thread when time permits.

If you want discussion, pick something easy to talk about. If you want to make an "encyclopedic" post, don't expect much discussion to follow  :D

Anyone ever thought about adding a little symbol or name or something for our profiles here; that tell other members we are on the FB page?

I think it can be difficult to know whether you've posted something that's so rubbish it's not worthy of a reply, or so good that you've answered everyone's questions.

The more facebook gadgets you add to the forum the worst it gets for the users. I remember a while back when I had to press back twice to go back to a page in the forum as there was a facebook "link page" or something trying to sneak in between the two pages.

If I wanted to be on FB I would have been there.
If I want to be on the forum then I do not want to be on facebook
, and trying to advertise it or force/encourage people to use it by adding lots of links and widgets and whatever just makes the forum slower and weird, especially from places where it is blocked.

I also suspect that if the forum is detected as trying to sneak FB in these place then the actual forum may be blocked too. I have seen lots of legitimate sites get blocked because the blocking software detected them as FB or youtube or Spam sites because of all the "clever" additions they had in them.

I hope Noone took my idea the wrong way. I did intent a link or any type of connection, just an indicator.

Like the nuts, or the country origin flag.

I also enjoy Chacos threads and posts. Always great pictures, and I feel like since he has so many, he really knows what to look for when comparing any 2. For any task.

There is a signature at the bottom or personal text that shows up under your name if you want to include FB or other info.

Were you looking for something different?
