Thats neat DIY!I wouldn't use vaseline though on o-rings, silicone grease is probably better.The only kickstarter project I ever participated in was for a fire pison. Its cool looking but I never did actually try it.

Alright I made the fire piston in the video however there were some issues. My drill is a POS and I wasn't able to drill the dowel. I did however get it to ignite char cloth. I was successful one time as I believe the o ring needed to make a tighter seal. I'll make some adjustments and proceed.It was totally fun to do and $16 total spent and I'll have enough stuff to get 2 done. Sorry no picture of the ember I was excited and honestly quite surprised since I was unsuccessful on a number of tries.
