lol ty Tarro!

and I don't mean to make light of this thread, I can understand your frustration and
wanting to do something about this. I think you need to start somewhere and talking
about it (like here, forums) and with others is a good a place as any to start.

MT manufactures making more efforts into making slip jointed tool's for the more ''hostile'' markets ???

This may happen sooner than later. The CRKT people designed the Guppie to be non-locking for international-friendliness and a few knife companies have been releasing similar slipjoint knives.

Although keep in mind that in the full-size multi-tool world non-locking blades are a step back in terms of functionality and most of the big names may be remiss to undertake what looks like a downgrade on their tools. It also may not make economic sense to design a full-size multi-tool specific to certain laws when in all likelihood those laws will become more restrictive in the near future, making the specific-designed tool illegal again and the whole undertaking a moot point.

That's a good point Spooney :), but not so long ago Spyderco came up with the UK pen knife slipjoint, and is soon to follow it up with the urban, so there is money to be made from making tool's that conform to existing legislations :)

alright I "fixed" the pic ;)

so many good fonts to chose from,
how do you decide "graffiti" styles?!

Much better.  :D

Just following on from Dave's post, to save confusion from fellow Brits, it is still legal to EDC a sub 3" non-locking folder.  You can of course still fall foul of the offensive weapons act if you are waving it around like a moron though.
I'm back!!

Best prices I have found are here:
http://www.jls-wednesbury.org/id36.html

but I have been unable to get a quote for shipping to the USA from them!

The Beta Company is a US dealer
http://www.betaco.com/aproducts.asp?rid=multiadventure
but they refuse to ship to California.

There is also:
http://www.aceros-de-hispania.com/gb/infer.asp?ac=22&trabajo=listar&pa=navajas-aitor&sg=navajas-aitor

Hi all. I'm another one who would appreciate more slip-joint MTs. :) Even in the USA there are enought places (and people...) where big locking blades are looked down upon, and I can only assume it will get worse over time. And though I realize the usefullness of locking tools, in using tools like the Kick and Juice series, I really haven't missed locks all that much. Knifeless MTs are fine too, but personally I can do without locks and big blades better than I can do without any knife at all.

Also, just for the fun of it, I'd love to see a quality MT with old-style slippy looks, and maybe a carbon steel too. :D

One of the reasons i got a Swisschamp was because i can't carry my spirit into london on my way to work, it's not a full on replacement but its the best i can do without taking a risk.  They've started to roll out metal detectors at the major stations in London and i don't want to get to liverpool street to find one, and then have to explain why i have a SAK on my keyring and a locking multi in my bag.

On a related note i bought one of these the other day http://www.amazon.com/Sigg-Outdoor-Cutlery-Knife-Steel/dp/B000R7PEVQ and its fantastic, really good build quality and a decent idea above the typical type of camping cutlery sets, but i didnt realise the knife (which is a sharp pointed steak knife) is locking  ??? It makes sense for safety reasons but its technically pretty illegal, how depressing is it that i'm going to have to resort to only keeping a useful tool for eating my food on me when i'm camping, because taking it into london for when i pick up pasta on the commute, or theres nothing to eat with at work is liable to get me arrested!!

i have a light my fire spork but good though it is, id rather use proper cutlery! though it seems the law doesnt want that! it would be interesting to see what the police would do if thy found that on someone, i wonder if the spoon would be classed as offensive... you could scoop someones eye out with it afterall!

I already have six, so I'll pass... probably :)

Biggest advantage of sporks is that you can use them to bribe small children into eating stuff....

"please finish you pasta"
"no daddy"
"there's no pudding if you don't"
" :-\ "
"I'll let you use a spork!"
" :o yes please daddy, the pink one"

Probably the most practical advice I've given on this forum :D

He went through a phase where it was "fun" to throw random stuff in the trash and drive Mommy and Daddy nuts.

Yeah, I've been waiting for that phase to begin. Most of the time when we go shopping both me and my wife go so we can keep track of him better. So hopefully we can prevent this phase from going overboard.
