What is your job Joel?

Kinda a jack of all trades.

I work maintaining 3 small trailer parks . I also install new and used trailer homes we sell and trade. Ohh and I fix up trade in homes in the winter time. The one I'm working on now was a real turd but it's turning out nice after alot of work.

I wish i had a job title or something.

That sounds like a very interesting job, always something challenging eh?

The challenging part it not knowing what I'm going to be doing from day to day until I show up to work in the morning.

I like my job. Most of the Time.

I hate my job.  All of the time.  That's why I'm switching.

I'd love to have that mystery of what I'll be doing every day, it's just no fun where I work.

Yup, always.  I'm starting over soon, leaving Machining for good and getting back into Hotel Maintenance.  I don't know my exact direction yet, but I do know I was happier doing some form of Hospitality work than I have been with anything else.  While I'm a good Machinist, I just don't like doing it for money.  CNC work sounds interesting but trust me, it's really freaking boring.  My last shop was cool, because we had huge parts with long cycle times so we would average maybe 5 parts a day per machine, my new shop averages 200 to 500 parts a day per machine.  It sucks, and it just happens to be the way the industry goes.  I'm stepping out now while the paycut will only hurt a little.

CNC work would be fun if you could make what you want.  Not a zillion pieces of whatever in a hurry.

I wish i knew how to operate and had access to some larger metal working tools.

I used to be a hotel janitor/maintenance man/ host.

It was a great job. The pay was terrible though.  I liked working inside.

You don't need a lot of different tools and machines. All you need is an angle grinder and a kid to hold it in place ;)

CNC Machinist jobs pay pretty good if you have experience.  CNC Operator jobs do not.  I happen to be a Machinist, and a Foreman, so I make good money at it but I just hate the field professionally.  The manufacturing field is full of tedious and sometimes really challenging tedious tasks that no one wants to do, so the field is filled with two types of people.  Those that do the actual work, and those that do everything they can to NOT have to do the work.  The latter are called Managers.   I'm a Manager, but where I work there are two of us and the other guy has seniority, so my title is a novelty and I basically get to do whatever he wants me to do.  Not my cup of tea, and I'm not going to fight for my position again, if I have to start over then I am going to do something I want to do, paycut or not.

The skills are awesome to have and I'm really happy I can make just about anything I want, but I don't want to do it for money anymore.  I will eventually get myself a mini mill and lathe and I will always be a machinist, but for me and no one else.

Softer steel and thin blade profile I bet.

Still like my old POS CRKT M-16 for that reason. Well that and the flipperness.

The PST knife blade is thicker than Rebars and Sidekicks. Those are the only two new LM's I have to compare to.

The mutt got its real use by me this afternoon.

It opened about a dozen plastic bags  with light swith and plug in covers inside.

He also installed a few that needed to be screwed on.

I dont know which one I trust more. I love my surge and it can take heavy duty, but I don't t care if my st300 get damaged, and its set of flat driver is so much useful for staple removal.

I carry a old wore out maxpedition organizer full of other tools and the pst I bought to work Monday is still in my coat.

I'll get by.

I'm more picky in the summer time when I'm trying to carry as light a edc as i think I'll need. Then it matters and hopefully I'll have a good setup based around the mut by then.
