The Spirit at work....
« on: February 11, 2015, 02:48:31 AM »
Hanging around here has gotten me thinking how much I really do use my Spirit on a daily basis at work.  As a professional tradesman, my tools get a work out on a daily basis.  With that being said, it's not every job that requires me lugging a heavy tool bag, etc. all around a bldg, complex, campus, etc.  Sometimes it's just what is on me that gets the call to arms.  I'm finding even when I have my full compliment of rolling tool cart, tool bags, etc. quite often the tool I'm using is the Spirit.  I'm so used to pulling him from the hip sheath that it's almost an unconscious reaction.  For my own interest, I'm going to post some pics of a day, maybe a week (who knows?) in the life of my Vic Spirit.

I really enjoy days like today, unfortunately they aren't all in the field for me anymore.  About 1/2 my time is spent at the cube farm as I'm now the team leader.  Estimating, coordinating, and supervising take up to much time.....

Nice to see another spirit working.

Keep us posted.

I'm interested in how the sliver finish will withstand life's abuse working.

I work on building management systems for an OEM.  It's service work on all kinds of industrial/commercial controls equipment.

I'm not very gentle on tools.  I don't beat them, they just get "used".  The Victorinox finish is quite impressive on the Spirit.  I'm gonna have to grab a pic of one of my guy's SwissTool next time we work together.  He's been sporting the same one for about 10 years or so and it gets more working time than Vic does (lucky for him, he doesn't spend half his life stuck in the cube farm  :drink:).  His SwissTool finish looks pretty beat.  He carried a SuperTool for at least a decade before that and went through the original and 2nd gen and they both ultimately were retired after multiple trips back to Leatherman for various repairs.  His SwissTool has never been back to Victorinox for any kind of repair work.  Build quality just seems to be better.
