New wave, looking for ideas.
on:
May 10, 2018, 02:59:41 PM
I just recently got myself a wave I modified some cheap screwdriver bit socket set to fit (which is a fantastic add-on) i've also already ruined the snips. I've got a rebar pliers on the way to replace it and I know I'll have to modify it to get it to fit but I dig the look of it. I'm looking to replace the scissors with something, Just wondering what fits with little or no modifications. If anyone has ever any tips or what not that would be cool.

Rebar awl or small flat driver are both useful. Depends what you want, really.

Don't know if you've had a look at these threads for ideas but there are some very talented modders on this forum.

An awl isint a bad idea, I could definitely turn the scissors into an on one. There's some good reading and plenty of good ideas in them links, thanks.

If you don't mind losing an outside tool for a pair of outside opening scissors then I'd say go for that. Vic scissors work great. In place of the stock scissors you could do the awl or get another flat driver and make a chisel. The mini surge is probably the coolest mod IMO and we've got Loki for parts. The wave is a wonderful platform for modding.

To be fair I could probably live without the serrated blade if I was to take any of them out but I like how it looks haha plus I've a micra on the way. I think I'll slap an awl into it and turn the flat driver into a chisel for now, I like that idea.

Welcome! Browse the forum or search for "Leatherman mods". I'm sure you'll find something interesting.

Got some nice things in the post today, got a leatherman Micra and the rebar plier head, and I just finished replacing the head on my wave and modifying the scissors into an awl type deal.

Nice start, or are you finished? Seem for some the modding is an addition all to itself.

Oh I'm not done yet. Have to take scissors spring out and put something else integer and i'm thinking maybe grinding the back of the serrated blade into a hook blade. Also some experimenting with blueing some parts of it.
