Took long enough!! We still passed small pockets with snow, it was out at Wachusett mountain and the ski part still had quite a bit.

I was bored so did one of my favourite walks (about 40 minutes each way) up the hill (which is actually a volcanic crater). This is the view of the Lyttelton Harbour (which is actually in the crater):

Went to the Cleveland National Forrest not long ago.  This time wanted to try out one of the cabins they offer.  It was a cute little cabin with a wood burning stove ( didnt use ) and bunk beds.  It was nice during the day 70's F and got down to 40's F at night.

This was a couple of days just to reset and relax. Mostly sat around camp and practiced fire making, did some whittling, tested out a couple knives I recently acquired, and ate a bunch.

I use my phone to take pictures and while I always have every intention on taking plenty I also most often leave my phone in my truck.

Its a nice campgrounds and until summer hits its pretty quiet.  There are 80 something sites available however only 5 or so were being used.

I was splitting wood with my Anza and son of a gun this knife was a beast.  The oak was knotty and hard but the knife proved capable.

I also got to try out my Trangia ( stove ).  I need to make a pot stand but while at camp I improvised one.  The stove is a great piece of gear but needs a wind screen, the winds at camp were about 20mph at times.

There are a couple of fire roads as this area is prone to wild fires and sadly a few years ago was hit pretty bad.

We did a fair amount of exploring and as always I carry a small pack plus my fixed blade ( Anza ) and trusty Swisschamp.  I made a trade recently so I was also packing the Dpx with me.  I re-did the edge to convex which makes this little knife a powerful cutting companion.  I also stored a small ferro rod and char cloth in the handle.

Lots of wood peckers in the area and a great variety of trees.  Cedar, Oak, Pine, Manzanita and others.  We trekked to a water fall however with the drought in California it wasn't much a fall.

I love this area and often come back.  I avoid the busy time and end up having this whole camp ground to myself.  The rangers area great and will patrol the area at night but otherwise we are left to ourselves.
