Neckers (not kissing bandits!)
on: July 23, 2008, 12:47:21 AM
I got a new neck/pocket knife, it is a custom, a Koyote "Patch Knife"
named that because they used them to make/cut their
patches for wrapping the load for shooting (Period).

15N20 steel which is a 1075 steel with a dash of mang. and nickel.
good tough bandsaw material
scales are ipe, also known as brazilian cherry or brazilian ironwood.
Very hard, very oily. lasts forever! (very close period knife)

and here is my other Neckers with it;

the Dogfish and the WoodsWalker ;)

Nice knife WD, beatiful work, what is the size of it? Seems smaller than the DogFish (the DogFish is very small)

Hey WhichDawg, whaddaya think of that WoodsWalker?

Looks like a decent little knife to me with amazing bang for the buck:  $9.95 for AUS-8 steel, full tang, and Rucarta scales!

The leather hip pocket sheath looks like a better match for me than the neck sheath:

Did you get the kydex neck sheath with it?

it's great ringzero! what's really nice about it (the Steak knife we call it) is the handle is really big for reg
and big paws, compared to other smaller neckers.

I got the kydex sheath and though it has holes for up or down carry it's weight won't keep it "up" for
up carry, it flops down so you really have to carry it down around the neck (with their kydex).

It's a solid little knife and I would very much recommend it! *correction* we got ours with kydex for 17.95
with shipping (same place).

by the price you said! Get it!

Thanks for the recommendation, WhichDawg - for $9.95 it's hard to pass on getting this knife!

I've never been able to carry a neck knife for long - unless it's quite thin, lightweight, and also fairly short it bothers me when I feel it bumping around.

Thanks again.

it's very light, sturdy/well made, a good design and materials.

it's not very thin, nor is it short, but it holds nice in the pocket and on the neck in their sheaths.

That looks like a brilliant little camp knife :), plenty of meat to get the job done, but small enough for more intricate tasks :)

Sorry for the confusion, WhichDawg:  in no way would I want to carry a WoodsWalker in a kydex sheath as a neck knife.

WoodsWalker is too long and too thick to be a good neck knife for me, but I'm glad it works well for you as a neck knife.

Occasionally I wear a neck lanyard with a sub-0.5-ounce, 2-inch, Zytel-handled, Buck lockback knife and a LED coin cell light.  Any knife much bigger and heavier than that will rarely get carried around my neck.

I totally understand RZ, preference! I was seriously considering bigger blades as
neckers; like the Game Warden, or Dumpster Mutt but the novel idea soon wore off! (cause of the weight!) ;)

WhichDawg,

Thanks for the pictures. I don't know if that would work for me or not without trying it out, but I sure like the looks of it.

The knife is lovely, if a little short in the handle, but the sheath is bloody AWEFUL >:(, it will injure you at some point ::)
