Front Scales Question - Plus vs. Non-Plus
on: March 10, 2015, 06:01:01 PM
Anyone know if the front scales are different between Plus vs. Non-Plus scales?  They seem to be the same in thickness.

Also, noticed there are sometimes no Vic logos on the front scales...are these intended for custom printing?

No difference. Front scales are always the same only the back scale for the plus models is different with the pen cutout and is thicker to accommodate the pen.

If the shield is on the back scale (with the corkscrew/phillips cutout) then the front one is blank and left for printing advertising. I've never seen a SAK for sale with such scales where the front scale was blank without advertising. All of them already had advertising printed on them.

Thanks Enki for confirming about the front scales.

Regarding the blank scales, both the front and back scales are blank.  No questions whether the SAK is genuine.  Guess it could be from mixing between sets of scales.

Below are some pics.  I actually like having both scales being plain.  These are on a Climber and are from an authorized Vic retailer who swapped the scales.

And I'm guessing the tang stamp on the knife blade says Victorinox.

Probably they had some leftover blank scales from ad printing.

Yes, the tang stamp is correct and no question that the SAK is legit.

Those are really nice! I'm thinking of upgrading a Climber and a Spartan. I'll try to see what colours are available.
