These are my two. They are from the run victorinox did in standard red around 2007/2008. One has seen some use and been relieved of its key ring. The other is new. They have the older 4 line tang stamp.
That nubless red farmer is a beauty I’m not a fan of key ring nubs either. Here’s my silver farmer after its nubdectomy(Image removed from quote.)Not sure if I’ve joined this club, but now it’s official
mmm... red Farmers. As they say, two is one, one is none! Here is my pair. Mine aren't as fun though, b/c they haven't seen any use, and they have the stabby keyring nubs. (Image removed from quote.)
Those are a bit (just a bit) better survivors that my OC Farmer. Mind you, I didn't pay much for this one thankfully.
Nice one G! I'd use that one proudly!I didn't pay much for mine either, but that was 15+ years ago in the SOSAK days. Times have changed.
Great pic stoer!I suppose I should add my carry Farmer to this thread as well:(Image removed from quote.)
Very nice! That definitely looks like a Scibeer peening job, well done as usual. I have one of those blue Farmers as well, unmodified. It's funny how we used to go crazy over colored ALOX back in those days when anything but silver or red was so rare. Blue Farmers and Copper Cadets!
Always struck me as funny that it was a shopping channel that kicked the whole thing off.
Good point. I had totally forgotten that QVC was the source of those Farmers until you mentioned it.
I had to go fact check myself on the Wiki 'cos it feels to weird to be true, but there it is.
Sure enough! Mine was packaged in the tin with the 2AA Victorinox flashlight, as mentioned there as well. That light was made by Innova and had a luxeon emiiter, probably about 30 lumens. I gave my light away and the tin is long gone.
That's how my red farmers were. And the 2006-2007 time frame sounds about right. It still boggles the mind that a bog-standard red is a special alox color now. Outside of that limited run of the farmers and pioneers in 2006/2007, I don't think they've made standard red since except now with shop logos on them.
