I don't know about self sharpening, but they bite into slippery stuff like no tomorrow.

Another advantage is ease in cutting stuff with round cross section like parracords. Other that cutting slippery and round stuff, I like the non-serrrated SAK scissors more.

Nice pic. Those lock releases get a lot of bad press, but they really are intricate little details aren't they? :)  Also, fold out all the blades and look at the little lever on the inside of the handle. There's another fancy little component.
