1969 Timex Viscount and a pre-1963 TImex, unknown. These are both English-made automatic mechanical watches. I paid $20 for the pair, and am beginning to wonder if I smurfed. TImex and "high end watch" don't go in the same sentence. Timex and "lasts a long time" rarely go in the same sentence. Timex and "your jeweler will fix it" rarely go in the same sentence (and for me, it's true).  The Viscount will last a decent amount of time; but the older one won't. I set them and then carried them around in my hand a bit to let them wind up. I hope I didn't screw them up when I set them, but who knows.  I think the Viscount will be salvageable and become my new dress watch. The black dialled watch will likely end up being given to my jeweler for parts. It tends to stop a lot.

Congrats Reinier... looking good.
And you can control the music player too  :tu:

I have a smart watch that came with my phone. I've really tried to like it, but it's just not for me.

Instead I've got this G-Shock.

Thank you!
I quite like the Spotify controls. I use them while riding my bike for example. But somehow it has stopped showing the album art
So, Wear OS is not perfect. Lots of weird stuff going on. For example I can only get US news headlines to show, not a single Dutch one. Even though it's supposed to follow your Google Assistant settings :dunno:
And the watch seems to forget several config settings whenever it's turned off and on again.

Nice G-Shock :tu:

I was able to acquire the new Helm Vanuatu titanium-version, as of late.

That would be a Hamilton, the Pilot Pioneer. It's a reasonably accurate reproduction of the military issue W10 but with some upgrades like a sapphire crystal and an 80h power reserve.

Small case, and thin [handwinder, no rotor] so it almost disappears under a cuff. Wears great on a G10 NATO strap, which is a personal preference.

Long winded name this one, Elliot Brown Holton Professional. Phew. It's tough as old boots, the only new watch currently issued in the British armed forces and that's only to select units. You can buy them from their website but the issued variant is slightly different in a few places.

I've added the bracelet to mine, I do like the lumed logo on the clasp. Standard it comes on either a rubber strap or a G10. But they've been very clever with the spring bars, or lack of them. What they have are are stainless bars that are threaded on one end and a pentalobe head. So it's really easy to change the strap. They provide the tool as well.
The DLC finish is perfect and will outlast me!

I'll take better photos soon, the phone doesnt work well in low light on luminous watches

I got myself a Xiaomi / Amazfit T-Rex pro.

It looks like a G-shock for the smart watch age. It replaced the GX-56 I have been wearing for the past few months.

Got this second hand Seiko. It feels a little "plastickie", I'd expect it to feel heavier and sturdier but I still like it. Been my EDC since I got it. Not very cheap, but it was a model I never saw before.

The Waceceptor funcion works like a charm. I use the alarms a lot. The glowing hands are very noticeable, at least for a couple of hours.

One little think: the seller replaced the battery just before giving me the watch. I think they put a regular battery, not a rechargeable one. The power dial is awlways in the same position, no matter if the watch is exposed to sunlight or not.

Does anyone know if this can damage the watch? I think the only thing it does is that the battery doesn't get charged and will get worn out faster. When this happens, I'll be sure to replace it with a rechargeable one.

I would get rid of that battery and put in the capacitor like it needs. The charging circuit could overcharge the battery and cause it to leak, ruining the watch.

Thanks, I didn't considered that. I asked how much that type of battery would cost, I was told it would be about €30 (instead of €5 for the regular ones).

This is turning out to be an expensive watch...

It pays off in the long run. And it’s still cheaper than servicing one of my watches, which runs anywhere from $175 to $650 depending on what it is.

Guess you're right. I only have a watch (Seiko 5) that cost me 3-digits, bought new, and it's broken. Seems it has a problem common to some production batch. Neverthless, it'll cost €80+ to fix it, so it stays broken and I'm off Seiko watches.

The battery replacement in this Casio will bring it to 3 digits, too. Wave ceptor, tough solar, dressy looking... it may be worth it. It's been on my wrist ever since I got it.

 8) 8)

If it’s a Seiko 5 that’s a very common movement. I’ve seen 7S26 movements sell for as little as $35, and they aren’t difficult to swap if you have the patience and the tools.
