Stainless 85mm Wenger Forester?
on: April 23, 2015, 04:47:56 AM
Newbie question. I see a number of 85mm Foresters on eBay for relatively cheap, so im guessing they're not too hard to come by. I also see a stainless steel 85mm Traveler. I'd be all over a stainless Forester.  Are these out there and relatively easy to come by? If anyone has one would love to see some pics...particularly something that gives some perspective to its thickness. Is swapping stainless scales on to a plastic scaled Forester the easiest  way to go?

Wenger never produced a Forester with stainless handles as a regular model. They did do a version as an ad knife for Breitling watches. Its a fairly rare item.

As for swapping scales, I've never done it, so can't comment on the difficulty.

Thanks coloswiss.  Their ability to not produce the configurations that I want is uncanny. How about 85mm Forester in black scales...are those out there?

just pulled the trigger on a black handyman for $15. I would have liked the corkscrew but oh well. It didn't look very beat up but I can never really tell in pics, so we'll see. This will be my first Wenger...hopefully she still has some looks left.

The SS scales are glued on and are hollow. You can remove them , remove the glue inside and reglue them to another knife - I did so on a Traveller That needed a good clean - It lives with Enki now IIRC and the scales are on there noice and tight- Or are they, Enki?
