My first beater 111mm
on: April 26, 2015, 03:12:48 AM
Flea market find of the day

Rucksack(black sheath) with old style cross and patent on back of blade.  It was so gunked up with blood and guts when you opened the saw, the can opener opened also

It was so dirty I didnt notice the damage almost 3 centimeters from the tip of the blade, like someone batoned it against a steel rod.

I cleaned it with boiling soapy water and a stiff brush until the tools opened freely.  Then I dried and oilied the joints with mineral oil.

Now the tools have great snap and it is very sharp.  I removed some of the damage on the blade with a diamond sharpener.  My daughter started the lanyard and my wife finished it

Rucksacks are cool! Just enough to be versatile.....

Nice score!

Great find and terrific lanyard ladies  :tu:

The "damage" is pretty insignificant with respect to how neglected it sounds to have been.  I say great rescue with this knife and great job getting her a new life.

I say go for it.  Great blade to re profile and try out a different geometry on.

I've had good experiences with WD40 cleaning out that sort of thing. Patience is required!
