Queen D2 Hunters

Anyone have experience with these knives?

Queen Premium Hunters:

D2 steel, full tang, choice of Micarta or Oak scales - at $40 looks to be a decent deal for a basic woods knife.

Most knives with D2 steel are at least somewhat more expensive than these.  Similar Gerber and Buck knives in this price range are 420HC or 440A and are mostly made in China.

Looks like very good price for a D2 blade, I can't find how much shipping is or I'd probably get one.

I have the Drop point in Micarta.

I actually like it after reworking and convexing the secondary bevel…the factory bevel would cut but was too obtuse to make wood shavings easily. Right now mine will perform fairly well but could stand a bit more refining.

The sheath it came with does not even seem to have been designed for this knife. Although it is made from decent leather, it is nearly an inch too long for the knife and the keeper strap is useless. I can pull the knife out without unsnapping the strap.

I trimmed the plastic insert so that the knife would sit inside a bit deeper. I do like the knife enough to use, so I am planning to make a proper sheath for it.

For those who do not make their own sheaths I just found out that the JRE Bushcraft sheath made for the 510 Mora fits this knife perfectly.

Ground shipping in US appears to be $7.50.

They also offer various express shipping options inside the US and international shipping - at higher prices of course.

I tried to do a mock checkout to find out how much shipping is, but they want credit card right away on first page of checkout, so that's a no go. Guess I'll email them later and see.

I have the Drop point in Micarta.

Thanks for the info and excellent pics, SporK.

Too bad about the sheath, but I've seen this same thing many times over the years.  Even well-respected, big time manufacturers will sometimes ship a very nice knife with a barely functional sheath - like the sheath was just an afterthought.

This place is amazing!  I can request info on any nearly any obscure knife, and some MTO member will come along who owns one - or had owned one in the past.

On the first page of the checkout, if you click the little button to choose the shipping option, it should display a menu of shipping options with their prices.

I didn't have to enter any credit card info to get that menu.

The Queen in the JRE Bushcraft sheath.

Missed seeing this pic when you put it up - thanks for the additional pic and the sheath recommendation.

Looks like a very nice sheath for your D2 Queen Hunter, which looks like a great little woodcraft knife for the price - great bang for the buck.
