Awesome David. :tu: Around here you see the big boys like that around the port and refinery, wearing NS or CSX livery. Local switching is mostly GP40's. You can tell which RR a crew was trained by. NS tends to run a GP long hood first, CSX short good first. :)

Another of my brothers pics from this evening. The pics I took of this were set way to big. I forgot to adjust the size down to be forum friendly.   :D

I took a tour train trip to Agawa Canyon yesterday. Here are some train related photos.

I was in car 4 which on the way up was the last car. On the way back, the first car. The tour train has two engines, one on each end. Here is the pusher engine on the way to Agawa Canyon taken via car 4.

The scenery was beautiful.

The inside of car 4 facing the dining car which was hooked behind us.

Car 4 is named the Chippewa River.

A close up of the size blaze on one of the train cars.

Here is one of the engines.

The tour train consisted of two train engines, and 5 cars. Cars 1 to 4 plus the dinning car. Car 3 contained a snack bar. They had on offer pop, water, donuts, chips, and a few other things. A bag of small chips cost $3.50!  :ahhh

The last time I went down, which I think was back in 2010, this old train car was used as a souvenir shop. Now it hasn't been used as such for the past 4 years. However, what I didn't know back then, this was the train car that the Group of Seven artist used, along with a hand car, back in the early 1900s to paint some of their most iconic work.

Here is the rear pusher engine for the trip to the park, car 4 which I was in, and the dinning car behind.

The dinning car.

My Wave on the tracks.

Car #4 was quite nice inside.

That is it. The trip ws enjoyable. Departed from the Sault at 8 am and came back for 5:30. The train tour only gives you an hour and a half to explore Agawa Canyon. There are several waterfalls to explore, and the place is very nice.  :salute:

Very nice, Chako. :tu: I've been on a number of rail excursions, mostly steam.  Nowadays when I take a train it's NJ Transit, so I'm not exactly taking pictures of the "scenery"..... ;)

In Tasmania, we have a bit of mining history.

On the west coast, just south of Queenstown, there was a rail line out to a place called Pillinger which is disappearing more and more into the bush. The old line is a walking track now, and I have been half way along it, but not all the way to Pillinger. One day I'll get back and do the rest.

Betweeen Queenstown and Strahan on the coast, is a rack and pinion railway which was used to transport ore to the sea. It was closed for many years but in recent times has been opened as a tourist railway.
I went on it back in 2011 but we were stopped due to trees across the track and damage that occurred between the inspection in the morning and our tour.

The train had to unhitch from, the front and go backwards on the return journey from our start point

This is the turnstile in Strahan where we should have got to

You do the trip in one direction and they bus you the other way. Yet another thing to still tick off the list!

Great to see some GP's Tom. They are still seen in the yard and local lines around here. A steady stream of wide body GE's can get boring.   :)

Another Geep sighting today, this one a NS GP38-2. The long hood is forward, which is usual for NS.
