Anyone know anything about this thing?  For some reason I like the way it looks.  I'm not much of a fan of Tomahawks, but I'm thinking about picking this one up and giving it a try.

I was also looking at that a few months ago, but ended up spending 3x what it costs and got a semi-custom from Ranger Knives. :D

One piece of advice I got from all my Tomahawk research is to get the nylon handled SOG hawk instead of the green wooden one.  Much tougher material.

I really like the feel of a Tomahawk better than a hatchet...the hawks are lighter and I find I can control it better.

How much of a difference is there in using a Hawk compared to a Hatchet?  It doesn't seem like there would be a lot of difference...

For long term use, the lighter tomahawk doesn't wear your arm out as much.  And the hawk is easier to maneuver during a swing...it doesn't hit as hard as a heavier hatchet though.

Overall I think a Tomahawk is lighter and more precise than an axe or hatchet.  It's like comparing a 4" Mora to a 7" Becker...both are great outdoors knives, but you need to use slightly different techniques to ge the same job done.

I like the Estwing Sheetrock hatchet.
They come in 2 handle lengths and can be made scary sharp once you thin out the face/edge bit.

I have the Cold Steel version of the Vietnam 'hawk and I like it as a tactical or fighting toy.  I say "toy" because it really doesn't have any real utility.  I's far too light for chopping wood or kindling, and too dull for other general utility issues.  However, if you are being attacked by ammo boxes, it could very well save your life!  :D
