It kind of makes you nostalgic, doesn't it?

Well, maybe not all the time:

Murder on Greyhound Bus

I lived on the military base just outside of Portage La Prairie for six years.

Yeah, apparently he was sitting at the front of the bus, then decided to move to the back, sit next to some kid (about 20 years old or so) who was asleep and listening to his mp3 player.  The psycho pulled out what was described as a "big f*ckin' Rambo knife" and started stabbing him repeatedly, all without any kind of expression on his face.  Then, when other passengers alerted the bus driver, who then stopped the bus so everyone could get off, the psycho started cutting the head off his victim.  The bus driver then locked the door from the outside, while the psycho walked back and forth on the bus with the knife in one hand and the severed head in the other.

They are going to probably enact laws banning knives, which makes almost as much sense as banning psychopaths...  ::)

geez.  a couple of times I was guilty of road rage (I can't stand people who tail me, especially when they go right up on your bumper)
but I've never hit or fought anybody (close though) and I've regretted my anger every time (especially with teenagers, the worlds greatest drivers)
and I either, calmed down and talked logically (after getting out and going to their car, this is in chicago) or just walking away (from the teens who were arguing back).

once while exchanging (as Terry says) "colorful enunciations/metaphors" a guy called me "Elvis!" and wanted to pull over and talk about it more (fight) and I just laughed (cause Elvis was cool!) and just let it go.

here and now I just let it go, I pull over and let the driver pass by (it's a law here for non-rocket drivers) and on their merry way and
I like it much better. but if I had one of them Leatherman Flairs with the fork! :D

You can still leave your house as much as you did before.  I don;t think the world is getting worse, it's just that news from all over is more accessible than ever before.  You are hearing about murders and twisted happenings that occur everywhere, only before they were just local.  Now with the www, cell phones with cameras and news stations like CNN, just about anything can be news, and grisly murders tend to catch the most attention.

Be that as it may, I have always believed, and always will believe that it is up to the individual to take responsibility for their own protection.  I am not advocating arming yourself to the teeth, and I certainly am not taking a shot at cops, who despite their best efforts, cannot be everywhere at once.  Be aware of your surroundings, and be prepared to get your hands dirty if you have to.

Right now there is a significant amount of panic revolving around whether or not buses are safe, and no one seems to realize that this is what we call "random violence" which means basically that it could have happened anywhere- library, city street, grocery store, wherever.  But, we'll get metal detectors in bus stations now, security guards without a clue as to what the laws actually are and lots of smoke and mirrors that look like we are secure, but aren't, and the ticket prices will skyrocket accordingly.  Since folks usually take long distance buses like that because they can't afford to fly, it means these folks won't go anywhere in the future since they won't be able to pay the new rates, or they'll fly, which will be closer to the same cost, only they'll expect to be harassed at the gate.  And, all because some twit didn't take his medication, and is out walking the street because of cutbacks to the medical system that causes potentially dangerous people to be out walking the streets rather than being locked up and looked after.

Sorry for my rant- it's been a long day! :D

Something equally repulsive happened here.A social worker making home visits was raped, murdered and her corpse burned by two clients in their early 20's one male, the other female. It happened in an extremely remote location .The fsther of the male culprit was charged with complicity and torching the social workers car to try destroying evidence.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals said the advertisement is meant to make people understand how animals suffer when they are killed in slaughterhouses.

Where are we supposed to kill animals for food?

well who are;) ?

i do a bit hunting, since im like 90 percent vegetarian, and i think hunting by my self is the only enen a bit more fair way to get meat, since some rabbits in example are realy hard to get with crossbow or 22 cal.and i loathe scopes, theyre like shooting innocents in the back 8).

but that ad aint so good taste at all, mostly petas adds are vise and smart, and get peoples positive intrest, maybe not this time.

ive worked in my past in slaughterhouse, that was sick sick sick.no matter what the standards and orders tell man to do,to avoid un necessary pain, suffer and stress, the REALITY is other issue.especially in some poor lands.i dont feel a bit  shame to say that anyone who tortures animals for fun,or doesnt do it quick and unpainfully as possible, should be treated the same way.same goes out to animal testing, its pure MENGELE stuff to test ie.nail polish removers to rabbits eyes.what kind of human would put it in his own eyes, huh?and the testing doctors say here that they have ethical instructions to end the life of suffering animal, but what do u thin does a beagle, rabbit, monkey, any living animal suffer when they smash its legs with hammer without any anaesthesia and let in just infect?or get some cellular phone parts attached to their head just to know if brains can be read some sim-cards.they should experience the same treatment as well and then we ask again is that painLESS,ha,DOC?

people like them should not be walking in open streets.they have some mental issues i think.not any capabilities to any empathy or sympathy, just veins filled with ice, thinking theyre god-like crwatures above any moral laws and raise them selves above other animals.thats just mean. :-\

The picture used from the article is from myspace & the incident is described as a "random slaying"?

Why does Canada have 16 year olds running the press?

If this keeps up, the Defense is going to be a picture of the attacker with the subtitles: "In ur bus, slaying ur carneez"

Please put all your belongings in the little plastic tray & smile for the camera before boarding the bus sir.

50 year old cold case

Daniel Barter disappeared  50 years ago from Alligator Creek which is 3 miles from my current residence.

I was assigned the cold case about 5 years ago - still no leads. However, the case is open and active.

Speaking of your home town being in the news, try NEXT DOOR. This happened almost 2 years ago. I don't know why it says 2007, it was November 2006 when it happened. Kinda put a damper on Xmas.
