I need to pick up another one soon.  They're great hiking and camping knives, as I suppose by their name  :D

I'm not sure which club this SAK belongs in. It started as a Handyman, but I replaced the pliers with a magnifying glass/Philips layer. So it could be called a Woodsman with a metal file!

I'm a big Explorer fan and really liked the idea of adding a wood saw. After searching for months without luck for a Woodsman, I got what I thought was the next best thing - a Marlboro Unlimited Outdoorsman. I don't mind the fish scaler at all because of the useful rulers on it.

It was pretty dirty when I got it so I was a little concerned. But some deep cleaning and lots of oil, and it's looking good now. I pulled the Marlboro scales off it and am waiting for some new Plus scales to arrive. I'll post a photo when it's done.
Here's the completed Outdoorsman with brand new yellow Plus scales. And my first yellow SAK too!

This combination is really a model that Vic should make - Great tool combo

Not sure they'd call it the Exploranger - But we think it's a good name

What's the plural of Woodsman?
Reply #526 on: January 17, 2023, 10:45:55 PM
Found this older thread and thought I'd give it a bump with a picture of my two Woodsmen or Woodsmans, or maybe Woodsmyn. I don't know what to call more than one of them. :)

I built the green one over the holidays while building another one for a friend. It will be a great backpacking knife!

Edit: I forgot to add, I believe the Alox is from 1965. It has the large Elinox tang stamp, which ended in 65, and straight saw teeth, which started in 65. This is one of those rare cases when I can actually date a SAK to one year.

Very nice pair of Woodsmens(?) john.  Very envious of the translucent green scales on that one.  You've got me thinking about tracking some down for myself.

Thanks Gareth. I wanted some emerald scales on a SAK for a long time. When I bought new scales for my friend's knife I figured I'd treat myself too. Seems like the perfect color for a woodsy knife.

Great to see this thread about this fantastic model active again
And very mice post and SAKs psyjohn

It's good as the originator of this post's Woodsman had the emerald scales        :tu:        :tu:        :tu:

PS. I'd go for Woodsmen   ..... (But, for some reason, never Leathermen!!!!)

Its my most useful edc sak to carry.... :climber:
