Late Night Ramblings
on: June 24, 2015, 10:12:06 AM
Well, it is currently 0300 here and I've been awake for an hour with an intense pain in my throat. It's either really bad allergies or strep throat. Either way, I need a distraction from the pain.   :surrender:

Anyone awake? Tell me what keeps you up at night.
I keep expecting this place to be like Twitter, but for people trapped in the 1990s.

Some call me crazy. I prefer "Happy with benefits".

Over here in the land down under it's almost 1900 and I'm working arvo shift this week.

That pain in your throat sounds nasty either way. Hope that clears up.

I always struggled falling asleep at night. Would think endlessly on everything and anything. Could never shut off my mind.

Then I had kids. Now, while not every night is peaceful. I don't ever have a problem falling asleep lol.

Ohhh, I'm sorry to hear about that, I know how bad it feels, trust me x-)

I guess I'm a bit late as here it's 1 p.m. and if we have 7/8hrs difference, it must be already 6 a.m. there already.

If you have not drunk or smoked something corrosive/strong (high in alcohol, too sugary)  and you do not feel like you have a cold I think you better see a doctor..

There are various problems that could cause a very sore throat, some potentially serious, but I do not want to speculate.

it is highly unlikely you will get better typing about it.

Milk and honey works great. Or crunch some painkillers in warm tea, and drink it with honey.

Then go to doctor.

It's only 0600 here so nothing is open yet. I just received a text from a friend I had dinner with last night who woke up with the same thing. I sure hope it's not strep but I'm pretty sure it is. I used to get it all the time back in the day.

maybe it is food related - acid reflex can burn you throat too, or maybe there was something nasty in the drink..

Back in the day? That sounds like you were born in the 1800s. Just try some mild tea or propolis to kill it

First, hope it turns to the best soon.

My advice, stay away from alcohol, there are viral variations that can be really bad in that combination (seriously damage your liver, to be precise). This is also the reason why I suggest a doctors visit.
Else, use a spray to reduce swelling and inflammation (not sure whats available in your parts of the world, I like Benzoxonium Chloride / Lidocaine hydrochloride found in Mebucaspray from Novartis, Switzerland). There are also lozenge available* but if its this acute I would go for the spray. And yes, I'm a veteran in this.

* With the benefit that they are quite tasty :D

Ha! I used to work at a pharmacy several years ago and would get strep all the time. I'm definitely going to go to the doctor. My body now aches everywhere but no fever.

Anyone want to come take care of me and bring all the stuff Etherealicer suggested? Please?

Thanks for the link!

I went back to the doc today and was prescribed another medication. Eventually I'll get well.

Until then, I'll be laying in bed so feel free to make me laugh (that's my favorite medicine).
