This is all from one seller on Zuckerplace, but I have seen similar prices on evilBay in the past as well.

To me, these prices are absolutely nuts and I'd never pay that for any of these- bearing in mind they are also Canadian dollars, so knock about 30 percent off for USD.

Still, this seems crazy to me.

But, this is also where the largest group of Leatherman collectors lives, so I have to ask whether it's me or this seller that is out of touch?

Because if it's me, and these prices are legit, I think I may have a lot of discontinued and collectible Leathermans for sale.   :ahhh

Another one.

Mine is in much better shape than this, maybe I should start taking bids.

Most seem quite high to me.

:iagree: but that is the trend that seems to be happening with most LM (especially discontinued models)

I haven't really bought anything in a long while because of this :ahhh

Wow, that is insane. I know prices when I started and now are vastly different. 60 Canadian for a new Micra tells me that Leatherman is now a luxury brand.

My Juice Pro is probably slightly better than that. And it ain't going anywhere.

Those prices are silly even if they're in Canadian dollars! I've seen some eBay sellers asking $50 for Juice C2s that were nearly destroyed. It'll probably be a while before I get my hands on another Leatherman...

I don't think that high prices are exclusivity to Leatherman.  I still keep certain Swiss Army knives on my watch list, on the eBay, and some I've paid roughly $35.00 just last year are going for twice that.   Not that I need another MiniChamp but prices are showing up for over retail for them.   Ridiculous.

Good point. I was shocked at what Victorinox  knives are going for. The Swiss Tool goes north of 200 Canadian these days.

Yeah, I don't like spending that much on a multi-tool.

I agree- SAK prices are also quite insane.

Sadly I think MTO is largely to blame for this, as there were very few collectors prior to us getting started, and you could still get a Japanese PST for $20.  In those days, not a lot of people even knew that certain PST's were made in Japan, and probably thought they were knockoffs.

But these prices are insane, and I'd never pay that much for any of them.  I've overpaid for a few things in my time (more than a few) but in the end I think I have always gotten everything at a fair price more often than not.  But, for me, it's just as much about the hunt (and the story) than the item itself.

"Need" is the key word. Do I need any more Alox Bantams? Probably not. Do I want more? Hell yes.

I think we have all overpaid for something a time or two.  But the best pieces in a collection are the ones you got for a good deal.   :D

I’m thankful that I built the majority of my collection ibetween 2000 and 2010. I couldn’t do it now and I’m way more financially secure.

You and me both.  I'm regretting some of the tools I sold over the years for reasonable prices though.

That having been said, I'd feel bad asking forum members for these kinds of insane prices.

I have built up most of my Leatherman collection over the last few years, and yes, there are some insane prices out there.  I think we see so many high-priced items because those are the tools that are not selling - items reasonably priced sell quickly.  I have watched items that I have wanted, but were priced too high, sit on eBay for several months.  When I would message the seller, they would refuse to lower the price, and the item would continue to sit.  I guess they were hoping for that one buyer who was uninformed or impatient to buy at their price.  :dunno:
