Help Me Choose Please!
on: August 06, 2008, 03:54:53 PM
Hi Folks
I have decided that one of my next big purchases will be a modern l.e.d torch and have narrowed my choice to the following
Fenix TK10

LED LENSER P7

SUREFIRE G2 LED(a bit above my budget of£50-00)

This is just a toy to show off when I am out with the dog ,camping with Jnr etc so feel free to share your opinions and experiences and any other suggestions
Thanks

I have used none of those so my opinion means absolute Jack all, but if I were to buyn one of those I would go with the Surefire.

I would recommend the Surefire if you want a light with only one level of output.  If that satisfies your demands, then buy the Surefire.  Their quality and warranty support are better than LED Lenser or Fenix.

However, having two levels as the TK10 does comes in quite handy at times.  Having several Fenixes and knowing their build quality, I wouldn't hesitate to buy another, especially knowing the service that 4Sevens provides. www.4Sevens.com

I'm disappointed in all of you... no one has posted the MT.O motto yet.

"When in doubt, buy both!"
If you took all the intestines out of your body and stretched them end to end... you would die.

The MT.O motto may be modified as needed.  It's in the bylaws...

If you mail order SF G2 it'll be well within your budget.

Both G2 and TK10 are good choice, but I hate flashlights that use multiple AAA cells, since they have 1/3 of the capacity of AA and more expensive.

I'd take the TK10 over the other two. It's brighter and has more useful outputs.

Good point, I was think that when I posted. I am a total consumer when it comes to flashlights. I'd much prefer to spend the small extra on an entire new light than an upgrade to an existing light. But that's just me.

Go with the Surefire. I am sure the Fenix and the Lenser are great lights however the surefire is the company to go with. i dropped my G2L from about 40 feet and  broke the lens of it. Other than the lens the light worked. When SF was called they did 2 things, First they oppoligised that the lens broke and second sent me the whole head for free. It seems that the lens is really something they prefer not to send out, and the head is easier for them.

A Surefire's a Surefire! But, as you said," a bit above your budget" I'll recommend the TK10! It's Fenix's top of the line and for me,it's almost the perfect light! ;)

The Fenix turbo mode is proving a major attraction for me particularlly with work in mind but for the members who have both is there that much of a difference in the build quality between the G2L and the TK10?

I don't know if fenix changed it or not but when I had the t1, the forward clicky is not up to standard. To activate momentary you need to push it in quite a bit, whereas surefire and streamlight a light press is enough. I think it'll still take some time for fenix to figure out all the details.

Nope supposedly brand new with battery, but no box. I bought a powerlock from him earlier, which also have no box but is brand new as far as I can tell. That's how all his stuff are so I don't know what's the deal, maybe mil surplus? I should get it end of this week, or early next week at latest.

I got my 6PL today, I think if you were to get one you'd be pleased.  :) Marc at edcdepot can probably special order it if you want one.

I still give led lenser p7 thumb down just from the specs, 167 lumen from AAA alkaline cells? It'll be a battery slaughter house.
