  thanks guys!

The run in should be until the first service @ 1500 kms and word has it I'm not supposed to be going over 4000 revs during that time. I'll do my best  >:D
The sore butt thing might also partially be down to the rear suspension, which is indeed very hard. I'll see if I can decrease the pre-tension somewhat.
Cheers!

That has got to be difficult not to rev over 4K :ahhh
Luckily it won’t be too long before the engine is run in
I had the same problem with my bike that the rear
suspension was too hard it’s like it is set up for two people  :dunno:

Do your best!!! :D

I was limited by a similar number on the R9T last year. "Most" of the time I could contain myself, however once the bike was properly warm it did creep over it... oops.

It is a new bike and seat. I found that my butt had to "re-shape" to the new seat. It took a little time, but now both seat and butt are playing well together.

You are probably right on the suspension. Again the R9T was set up wrong for my weight. I suspect the spring is still a little to stiff for my weight though. I took time to set the sag and damping to what I like and it behaves OK now. Maybe that is all you will need right now, and if you start playing with suspension settings write every change down. That helps if you need to go back a setting or two. I found that setting one component at a time worked better for me.

It is a very good looking bike D_T!!!

I can’t even imagine trying to set up a new bike. I’ve been riding my ‘02 ZRX1200 since 2005!  It just hit 53,000 miles the other day, on the way to work.

I used to put 20-30,000 miles on my motorcycle a year, but then got married and had kids...  well, you can all imagine.

These days most miles come from ride to/from work. I’m not comfortable on the ZRX out on the highway. Haven’t been for several years now. I seem to really take a beating by the wind at constant interstate speeds.

Been looking to switch it up. Ready for either a big cruiser or touring bike. Just not sure yet.

Anyhoo, back to my reason for typing...

Yep. The new bike will take a bit for it and you to get comfortable together, but when you do...

Ahhhhhh.....

G'Day,

What a lovely day for a bike ride today.

A mate and I had a very nice breakfast run this morning. It started off pretty cold (1 degree C) but warmed up by the time we had breakfast. He was on his R65LS and me on the R9T. I recently got it back after some warranty work and had to make sure that all was OK. Happy to report so-far it is. Most of the wind Sydney has had over the last few days died down and skies were pretty blue. All up a smallish day, just a tad over 380 km. Both bikes ran very well, good coffee and good food.

I have a couple of days off next week and will definitely go for another run - pics to follow.  :D

Cheers, Pete

Starting work on the hydraulic vehicle lift so I can use it for my motorbike
At the moment I am getting the plywood sheet cut to the size I need
And once that is done I will be fitting the wooden
slats to strengthen the plywood platform I won’t get it all done today
As I haven’t got the wheel chock / clamp for it yet
But I can at least park the bike on top to give me more space in my workshop

Thanks Nix
Be handy for working on the bike and I will have more
space in my workshop when I can park the bike on the lift
Rather than having the motorbike parked up next
to the hydraulic vehicle lift it’s a lot of waisted space  :tu:

That looks quite cool. That will make working on the bike quite easy.

Just think, you can add another bike to your stable!!! One on the lift, one under the lift  :D

Cheers Nix,

I think BMW has got a winner with these. You can leave them as is, or customise to your wallet's content. In both cases wonderful to ride.

For the motorbike lift I am working on
This wheel chock can hold the
front or rear wheel off the motorbike  :tu:

Especially as my motorbike hasn’t got a centre stand
So this way I can have the bike standing up straight when working on it  :tu:

This is what I got. Sorry for the link to a business.

So far, it has worked excellently, and it is small and portable enough to not take over my garage.

+1!  :like:

That's a great lift you're putting together Ws

+1 too, looking forward to seeing it when it's finished.

I also have no centre stand on the Guzzi... but they are available both from the maker themselves and from various aftermarket sources. I'm wondering if it's worth adding one. The Beemer I had had one... it makes some things easier (maintenance, parking in tight spaces) but adds a little weight.  :dunno:

Anyway, this can wait a little. I'm currently busy assembling a small spares and tool kit. It seems motorbike manufacturers are eminently confident no one needs any tools these days, nor spare bulbs, fuses and and spark plugs  ::). The only tools in the stock kit are one (1) suspension adjustment key and one (1) fuse extractor thingy
Also, I need to make do with a tiny space only under the saddle. Not sure I'll have space for a tyre repair kit... and this makes selecting the tools a bit difficult as I need to watch their size and weight. I have found some used items in the 'bay which are on their way to me.
Cheers!

G'Day D_T,

I have a similar problem on the R9T in terms of tools and space.

My basic tool-roll consists of the following:
Leatherman Crunch
1/4" hex bits that cover Torx, Hex and screw drivers
1/4" extension
A few fuses

Tire repair kit (read emergency get out of jail card  :D)
8 CO2 canisters and a double inflator that allows two canisters to inflate at the same time. Remember ALWAYS wear gloves when working with these canisters, they freeze on the the outside whilst inflating. DAMHIK.
String plugs - similar to the ones that were discussed a few pages ago
Glue / tire cement
Plug tool

The tools are all inside an old bank bag that the Mrs stitched up for me. The tire repair kit is in a pencil case. Neither fit under my seat, there is NO space under it, but I always carry a small daybag on a day ride. As part of my daily commute, I don't bother with these. I have road side assist and will use them if required.

I took the suspension C-spanners off the bike, I only adjust the suspension at home where I can write changes down and one usually need a second person to help with the measurement.

I'll post pics over the weekend if you want.

Pete

The lift I am making for my bike is normally used for repairing cars
And as it is stored in my workshop it’s taking up a lot of space
This is why I am now making it into a motorbike lift to store and
work on the bike for when I am not using it for repairing cars
And this way I have more space in my workshop  :tu:

I have had a look at those lifts but my bike hasn’t got the
frame bars running under the engine so all the
weight would be on the engine when lifting the bike
