Magnum Chopper
on: August 06, 2008, 12:16:55 PM
Well i thought i post some pics of this one, since some of u asked them.I received this today and i gotta give lots of credits to Benner for helping me out,to get it in finland,so thanks a lot Ben.

Its Branded as Magnum which is owned by Böker company. The knife is full tang construction, made from 440 stainless steel, has 7" long assymmetrically sharpened blade, total length is about 12 1/2".Sheath is made from kydex, has hole-rivets for variable attchments to chest rigs, backpacks or where u want to mount it,and two rows of 1" wide strap holes, but ofcourse it has also normal belt loop made from cordura. Its pretty damn sharp(for a chopping blade)straight from the factory. The handle is just some reinforced black matte finished plastic, mounted with three M6 hex bolts and nuts(which makes me think that it would be just too easy to do some wooden handles all by myself).

Im about to test it a bit and let you know more about my opinions, but so far im really happy with this,it seems to have great quality/price ratio.

The paracord/shocord lanyard in it is made by our member Deano42,its a piece of paracord art,and he made it just like i wanted to,although my explanation and drawing wasnt so good to start with i guess.

Sorry for this lame review but i had to give it a shot :D

...thin steel pipes....surrendering under this knife;)

I'm impressed that it cut steel pipe and while I don't expect to ever cut steel pipe with a knife, it's nice to know that it can.

it was just thin steel, some 0,5 mm,and i also hacked it thry one car door, and lots of tuna cans :D.i gave it just few minutes ago some finishing edge with my fjällkniven diamond/whetstone sharpener, now u can whittle fingernails with it easily;).

this is maybe one of my best knifes i bet,it seems to be similar to our finnish army issue knives,it takes some bit more brutal using without any damage.

and i just made some slight mod into it too :D :

now thats a combo i happen to like.

i think that when i do my next over night trip into woods,i leave the axe home and replace it with that black beauty.
i wish i had some kydex so i could make some utility pocket on top of that sheath,or some cordura to stitch.but that leatherman´s molle sheath aint bad either
