My one cell LEDs beamshots comparison
on: August 09, 2008, 10:20:42 PM
L1D Q5 OP reflector, Mini Palm 1AAA, Led Lenser 1AA Digitac II

I used Eneloop in all flashlights

Reference shot - distance 45 feet, one 32 watts flourescent lamp on.

All lights were turned off before the beamshots were taken.
Only the pilot lights of the AVR and the time delay switch are visible

L1D - low

L1D - medium

L1D - high

L1D - turbo

Mini Palm

Led Lenser

Both the Mini Palm and the Led Lenser have only two modes (on/off).

Observation: The 1AAA Mini Palm is only as bright as the L2D on low mode, and the Led Lenser 1AA is only as bright as the L2D on medium.

Cheers mate you know you quality beamshots are partly to blame for my growing interest in torches  :D.That and the fact that you can't carry most of my fun toys in this country >:(

How does the L1 perform on run of the mill alkaline batteries?

There was no noticeable difference in brightness in using either alkaline or NiMh. I didn't conduct a runtime test but I believed that the only difference is in the runtime. NiMh has a higher energy density than alkaline I think that the runtimes in different modes claimed by the manufacturer were based on the former.
