Gift for my boss
on: April 23, 2015, 07:14:53 PM
So my boss is into hiking and mountaineering and stuff. Two years ago we got him a camo jacket and last year some fancy binoculars.. this year I suggested we buy a sak.
I thought about something quality, fancy and exotic, but big strong and trustworthy .. priced high but reasonable Victorinox Delemont RangerWood 55:

I couldn't find a suitable sheath so I'll also get a black lanyard and an eyeglass screwdriver for it.
What do you guys think? Did I make a good choice? What about accessories? I can still change it.

PS: It is slightly over the 10 cm edc carry limit, but hey the local Police Chief takes his coffee in office so it wonlt be an issue. Also it's meant for woodsy-stuff.

Note: I never seen one live... have a Wenger Ranger 55, a Vic Forrester and Vic Damascus Carl so I'm imagining this to be a merger of the three... but bigger and fancier...

I think I have a sheath (unused, but no box) for those knives, It´s a Wenger one, though.
If you´d likee it, we can do a small trade?!

Thanks for the offer. I'd normally be glad to do this Thomas, but not this time.
The gift will be given next Wednesday and I doubt the package would make it here in time, also all my colleagues chipped in so I don't know how I'd handle the extra money thing, plus I am very very busy the next few days so I don't want extra hassle - even the knife itself I am getting sent to a colleague as I don't have time to go to the Post Office or to work soon...

PS: Still waiting on the list of what you have around and want to discard at a reasonable price and might fit in with these: http://gearforedc.blogspot.com/

You're probably not a good enough boss to warrant a gift like that, because you didn't even notice that this thread is over 3 months stale.  :pok:

Too bad this is such a dated thread, because felinevet is selling a Wenger pouch that I think would have paired well with the knife.

Well... actually this was a tad underwhelmind...

My boss fiddled a few second with it, put it back in the box and said that he'll put it next to his bushcrafting knives... and didn't say anything else...

Teaches me to suggest gifts next time...  :-\

Then again... for my birthday my colleagues surprised me with a Swisschamp pouch (just like the one I was wearing at that moment) which I quickly exchanged for a Rover, an Escort and an Opie 4  :D

Yap... really looked underwhelmed.. even had some trouble closing the button.
I guess he liked it really I expected at least a shadow of feigned excitement... like I did for the silly SC sheath  :D

Yeah, don't waste any more time or effort choosing gifts for him.

Next time, chip in on a pre-paid VISA card or something.

That's kind of the way it goes with muggles though.
