I went with pen after days of deliberation. 

I have a pen and a stockman as a shelf queen, and I bought a pen and lost it.  I'd have bought a canoe years ago (if I had seen one I could afford), but that canoe sailed long ago when I bought a traditional-ish jack.  I like em all but pen is my favorite.  Now if you asked me what traditional would I get if I could only have one for the rest of my life - a canoe where the large blade has a long pull, and a swedge.

More for us  :drool:.   I do hope those who enjoy the looks would try one.  I was a little reluctant however early one I did buy a Buck 3 blade and the CRKT Toothpick.  I carried both infrequent but enjoyed them, if than makes sense.  Later as I began to desire something I picked up my Buck Creek and my interest did spark again.  Off and on I carried a trad but maybe its because SAKs seem to make a little more sense for some  :dunno:. 

Now that I have a few more I can say for my uses that a Trad is just a fun knife to have.  I enjoy very much carrying one and while I am still very much limited in my knowledge I will pick up several more.  A Trad and a SAK pair wonderfully BTW  :pok:.

I think the only Swiss knife I'd carry with a traditional pocket knife, would be keyring sized (65mm max), and then paired with something similar in size to a Soddie Jr (almost any of my single bladed trads would do the job). A larger Swissie, or a smaller trad, would feel a little too much like duplication to me.  :think:

That's what ultimately did in the whole traditional knife thing for me, the sheer utility of the SAK. I stopped carrying my beloved Buck 301 and 303 just because the same size in a small tinker or recruit game me so much wider mission capability. Had two cutting blades, plus tools for flat and Phillips screw driving, can opener that did double duty for staple removing, pot hooking, and many other jobs. Flat screw driver pried off lid of plastic wood can or putty, and then did duty as putty knife filling a hole.

Finally I saw the knife as just a knife. A one trick pony.
Don't get too serious, just enough will do.

Makes sense.  Tinker or Recruit are both pretty amazing.  I started my SAK journey with a Recruit.  I love the name too now that I think about it.

I've been carrying a Cybertool M as my work SAK lately.  The tool load out (bit driver, pliers) is great for my job, but the package overall is a bit unwieldy to use as a knife.  So, I've been enjoying pairing it with a traditional.

My 34 is in the mod fodder box, but I do use a 41 occasionally. I know what you mean about being unwieldy, I think the 41 is right on the limit for me.

I voted Stockman simply because I have twice as many stockman as any other. Trappers do run a close second ( as long as I count single blades)

Not much changed for me since I do like each new pattern I encounter.  I have really grown my collection and its harder and harder to determine which I like "best". 

Jack is certainly top since I carry my Pemberton the most.  While I like Trappers its not one I am as fond of as initially I was.  Stockman has really grown on me.  I thought three blades was a lot and figured I would use the main blade most but I find myself using each as needed.  Single blade trads are terrific.  I bought a Tribal lock and it fast became a staple carry item. 

I'm liking the options out there for 3 blade trads.  Main blade and punch then small blade.  My Camillus 64 is a great example of a nice 3 blade trad.  Since I last posted I also picked up a few Wharnie's. What a wonderful blade shape. 

While I don't think my vote changed I also find it hard to pick a favorite.

Hard to choose. I like the Canoe, but prefer the Stockman. One blade for "dirty" work, one for "cleaner" tasks and the big one for food prep.

It's easier for me to articulate my least favorite traditional patterns. Those would be the Barlow and the lady leg (though I may warm up to the former eventually).

My tastes in trads have definitely changed in the short time I've been collecting them. I was bitten hard by the Trapper bug, and that bite healed when I found they might be a little too long for me to legally carry. Then I discovered the Stockman. Lately I find myself drawn to two-blade jacks between three and four inches closed. Peanuts will awlways have a place In my heart (and collection), as my first traditional was a Peanut. Luckily, I'm able to adapt to most any knife!

Hard to choose. I like the Canoe, but prefer the Stockman. One blade for "dirty" work, one for "cleaner" tasks and the big one for food prep.

I’m pretty close to that with a Stockman:  clip blade for food (and tasks that benefit from that acute point), spey or pen blade for cigars, sheepsfoot for pretty much everything else.

Yea, like I said, it wasn’t going to be practical to include every pattern in the poll.
