Change of plan. It's going to be the Mountaineer for the next four days:

Tough call. Usually, S54 in pocket, Swiss Tool on belt. Sometimes the S54 goes into a belt pouch in front of the Swiss tool. Flashlight in front pocket w/ 3 in one pen. /pencil / black ink / red ink. Lock picks in one front pocket - LCP .380 in IS carry ... I guess I am ready for just about anything.

Hard to say... I'm not sure I fit on this spectrum, because I consider a light to be an important part of preparedness.  My normal daily carry includes: a pliers-based multi-tool, pocket knife or SAK, flashlight, and watch.  I don't differentiate between a traditional folder (Case, Opinel, GEC) and modern folder (Ontario, Buck, Kershaw) when it comes to what I carry; the point is just to have an easier-to-access blade.  Whether or not I carry a SAK depends on the MT — e.g. a Rebar means I need scissors.  Today I've got a Leatherman Wave, Buck Bantam, Timex Weekender, and ThruNite Archer 1A v2.

I also have a full-size MT (with bits), fixed blade, and larger light (good throw and SOS/beacon modes) in my vehicle.  I have a bag with other tools and emergency supplies (pain killers, allergy drugs, bandages, compass, fire lighting stuff) that's usually along for the ride.  I try to be decently prepared, but I also like to keep stuff like that in the car instead of on me.
May it be as the Pattern has chosen.

Here is a pocket dump of my carry items, with the only real rotating item being which pliers based MT I choose.  All the other items are true edc for the most part, as long as I'm not loafing around in gym shorts.

That's a hard one. Working inside a max security prison puts you in a very vulnerable spot. No cellphones, no knives of any kind, no scissors, no sharp objects allowed...period. If SHTF inside the prison, I won't be allowed to leave so...Preparedness = 0

Outside in the car, no firearms and no large knives allowed on the premises. I have a Vic Deluxe Tinker, a gas can, jumper cables, cellphone, raincoat, my car keys, and a full tank of gas to get as far away from that hell hole as possible. Preparedness = 2

When I'm not at work, usually a level 9, which means I'm clearly insane.

I don't rock the tactical folders, so Level 6 is where I stop. Surge with most used bit card, bit extender, + LL P2 BM in sheath on belt, Cadet, Rogue and Squirt on keys with a Fenix E05. I have a few Vic Classics or Bijous around the house so I have quick access to scissors. Slowly converting my wife, she now has a Classic on her keys and a purple Olight i3s and has taken to using them more herself than asking me if I have any scissors  :D

Usually two flashlights on my person as well.
My EDC:

Leatherman Style CS    "Fauxton"

Level 8 for me with a power lock, explorer plus, and currently trying out a utilitac.

As others have said a flashlight should be included as well as full size tools inside vehicles and at home.
