Kershaw A100 in pretty amazing condition
on: September 06, 2015, 10:47:30 PM
I finally got hold of this MT that has intrigued me since seeing it here on MTO.  Mine looks unused and in new condition.  The sheath is also in amazing condition.  Pretty terrific tool actually with a nice compliments of inside tools as well.  The OHO blade opens butter smooth.

Nice catch   :tu:

I suspect they weren't great sellers because they were fairly expensive compared with regular locking pliers, and not very compact.  But I agree, they are a quality MT indeed.  And yours is a very good example (the metal saw often shows sign of corrosion, I think it is made and/or finished differently to the other components).  They are pretty common on the bay of fleas, but usually sell for over U$ 100 if in half-way decent condition.

Now you need to look for the Sheffield knock-offs/homages  :pok: ;)

It's a wonderful tool.  I wont be using it cause I have a LM Crunch for my locking MT and regular locking pliers ( Vise grip ).  Kinda just wanted to get my hands on one.  I needed to satisfy my curiosity about this tool vs my Crunch.

I saw how much they go for without sheath and in "used" condition  :-\.  Not entirely sure what I'll do with this tool yet.  I'll play with it for a little but then apparently someone  :pok: ( KAM ) might be wanting one

You need a Sheffield Crocodile to complete the trifecta.   :pok: :D

Congrats on the find!  I often wonder why the LM Crunch does not receive more recognition and remembered checking out the A100, but gave up due to its size.

I was at the KAI factory sale last year and got a chance to chat with Thomas Welk, the director of marketing there. I asked if there were any plans to ever reintroduce the A100, and he just laughed and said no way. Dadgummit. I want one but I'm just not prepared to pay enough to get one.

Nah, can't stop there, he's gotta get the Gerber Grappler as well, to round out the quadrella, then there are all the different Schrade/Vise-Grip variants, the other (non-Sheffield) A100 knock-offs, the Crunch knock-offs .......   :pok:
