I have been thinking about it, the past few days, when people post sad stories about themselves, and their divorce/accident/illness, or when someone says, jokingly, that they should kill themselves..If someone posts a picture/story of their LM Wave and I click "LIKE" then I like the picture and the post. However, if someone tells something upsetting that hapenned to them, what does "LIKE" mean really... does clicking "LIKE" in their post mean t:- that you agree with their post, - that you like what happened to them (e.g. divorce, illness, accident), - that you think killing themselves will be a good idea (You like the suggestion)- that you sympathise with their pain??Would pressing "LIKE" be a nice or a mean action??
..we really can not afford to lose any women here

I also use it a lot to show I like something, or support, or sympathy or whatever good thing. I use it because I think it's a lot easier and simpler and less ... clutter-y than huge one-word or one-smiley posts. So, to sum it up, the like-button is used to express support and liking, in general, something positive, a different positive thing depending on the context.

In this case we assume "Thanks for sharing" But seriously now (are the mods watching?) I've been thinking about the Like button as well....Lots of ppl here us +1......or you quote and express you liking....From a hard drive space POV I guess clicking Like is better I personally think that showing the number of likes a person's got could be a problem......we're after all not like-hunting here.
Get me a Lawyer!! Facebook is copying my line of thought!! Obviously the Facebook staff reads MTO!! "Facebook users will soon be able to ‘dislike’ posts and pictures on their feeds, it was announced today. The social networking site’s founder Mark Zuckerberg revealed Facebook is working on the feature following years of requests for the function. He said users of the site wanted to express feelings other than ‘liking’.Zuckerberg gave examples of times when users might like to ‘dislike’ posts, such as when people post about family members who have died."http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/technology-science/technology/facebook-users-soon-able-dislike-6450128
I assume that: Like = smiley Face Dislike = Sad face
