Happy Spartan Day everyone!

I’m not bothered by a lack of T&T on mid-sized SAKs because I have a Rambler on my keyring & Classics scattered around the house.

One of my favourite Spartans is a Standard with solid scales & no T&T. I like its feel & no nonsense appearance. 🙂

And what I bought.

I don’t have a problem! I can stop any time I want!

Nice one, marlowe221! Welcome to the best SAK day of the week 😎

Reminds me: my small Tinker needs new scales. I have to say that since I prefer the Spartan, Tourist, & Recruit it’s never been a top priority 🤔

I normally prefer the corkscrew models over the back phillips but I’ve been trying to broaden my SAK horizons lately.

Still hard to beat the classic Spartan/Tourist toolset though!

l prefer the corkscrew for its utility but the Phillips makes the knife more comfortable to hold, particularly when you sing the small blade.

I hear people say that but I don’t really notice the difference (the Tinker Small is new but I also have a Super Tinker I’ve been carrying for a while now).

But I’m left handed so that may explain it.

Yep, I’ve got two Spartans and a Tourist I’ll be rotating through during the challenge. One of my Spartans is a new-to-me 70s era Spartan with the beveled awl with no sewing eye, grooved corkscrew, and a blank reverse tang stamp. Can’t wait to carry it, use it, and post some pics!

Edit - That Spartan is older than I am (I’m 40)!

I have one that was ancient when I was a kid! I'm 65. I was told it was Pradel not Vic, did that company steal the shield?
Pic will be in July challenge for debate, it is the tool set of Spartan....

Spartan PS (stormtrooper colour theme)
Serrated Spartan
Wenger Viking (their Spartan equivalent)

I don't use the Spartans much but with the black T&T completing the stormtrooper colour theme, it's my favourite looking SAK. The Wenger belonged to my grandfather and he likely got it in the late 70s or early 80s. The Serrated was an impulse buy as they were on sale for C$19... in fact they are on sale again so I will probably pick some up, perhaps to give away as gifts. I generally dislike serrated blades, but the serrations on this and the Cheese Master are absolutely excellent.

Took this as a scale comparison for the challenge, and decided to post it here instead.

I recently picked up a Diamond Select Toys West World Dolores Abernathy figure for use as a rider for 1:12 scale (Freedom, formerly Classic) Breyer horses.  The figure is actually 1:10 scale, and about 6.5" tall (vs. just under 6" for a 1/12 female), so I decided to get out some other figures I had.

The horses are a 1:12 "Hugo" from when Breyer had a Saddle Club range. The larger horse is a 1:9/Traditional "Western Prancer" based on Gene Autry's Champion. The mold originated in the 1950s, and the horse was originally produced between 2000-2004. In 2014, I think, some were found in storage and sold as "Warehouse Finds" with a different bridle.

The 6" figure is a bog-standard Hasbro Black Series Rey Skywalker.

The two paramedics are Breyer riders with clothing and accessories from a recently introduced Barbie paramedic, which was purchased last year at an $5 Black Friday price from Amazon, thus two were purchased. Because the body of that figure was "petite", almost everything fit well on the smaller 8" Breyer riders, except the pants were too long. The redhead is a current-production veterinarian figure, and I used the pants that came with the figure. Had to use the Barbie pants with the brunette, which was bought cheaply a few years back off eBay for use as a base figure. She's the older pre-2013 design with a smaller head, thus she looks less doll-like. I saved a lot of money--I found some firefighter turnouts as well as suitable dark blue cargo pants and T-shirts--those were about $50 from a place specializing in 8-inch figures. Counting the stretcher, figures, and Barbie figures, I spent less than that $50.

Stretcher was sold as an accessory for six-inch wrestling figures, but works well with 8-inch figures also. Stethescope is GI Joe, and the defibrillator is a Bandai capsule toy. It was the only option for a defibrillator I had in the scale, and it took some time to find. Japanese sellers were wanting $25-30, but an eBay seller in Atlanta had them for $5 each.

I remember the Breyer horses.  My sister in law collects them.  Nice collection Cody!
Phil, you're right!  Let's keep the best thread in the house going!
I used Old Blue to open a parcel from Farmer X containing a beautiful black scaled Swisschamp.

Well done Guys, nice to see a Weekender make an appearance Tony and it's always interesting to see what others are into Cody and the challenge of getting something just right. A black scaledSC is a very smart thing Barry. You'd think it would be bulky but that "little black number" does add something special to a SwissChamp  :like:
