Hi Looper,
Don't you have a battered old Spartan somewhere?  You know how much we like photos.  And Tony is taking names.  I'm just saying.  Best wishes.  Gary

Personally I'm down for a little Spartan Wednesday.  Especially for a pretty white one on the snowy ground.  Let me see if I can find an old Spartan picture.....?

Just so you know.  I'm not carrying a Spartan today.  Just taking a photo.  Spartan logo knife.  This one had a little kink in the main blade.  Somebody tried to pry something with it.  Bad idea.  I straightened it by hand using the push one end against a table and eyeballing it.  Pretty straight now.  I put my finger over the upper portion of the blade when I was pushing it down.  Didn't just grab the handle and push.  You could bend the whole blade if you didn't watch.  Also a bad idea.  Best wishes.  Gary

Very cool! I have never tried fixing bent blades myself, but good to know it can be done with patience. I have fixed bent cork screws before.

I’m still amazed that people use the blade to pry, with a knife that has two screwdrivers on it. Stupid. Happened to my first Spartan by an unknown family member. Still has the kink in it.

You can cut with a slightly bent blade fairly well, but it sure plays hob with sharpening.  As long as it still shuts okay, then you might even let it go for a while.  This was how I straighten a slight bend.  If it is a 45 degree bend you might as well forget it.  It will have an S curve if you try to bend it back.  Or break.  This photo was what I meant about putting my finger on top of the blade and pressing it down.  I am holding the handle part an inch or two off the table surface. It works if the bend is slight, and even if it is slightly twisted sometimes.  I have straightened several like this.  I have also seen broken tips on other SAKs, so do it at your own risk.  I have a couple of SAKs with bent or twisted small screwdriver tips.  They never look right once you straighten them evidently.  I have a couple that someone straightened.  They work, but they still look bad.  Best wishes.  G

Packing the Boy Scout's way.  At least the way it used to be.  Don't have a scout knife with the BSA logo?  Use a Spartan.  Best wishes.  G

Always prepared!

Item 7 of the list!  Interesting, not one but a PAIR😵‍💫

Seriously, a great share Gary.   It is so sad so many youth are not exposed to life today and how to prepare or plan for tomorrow s of our world.

Plus, the SPARTAN IS GREAT  knife.   I have a couple, but SE edged main blades.   Paired with a Climber you have yourself a KIT.
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

You could get by with only one rubber out of a pair.  Just hop through the woods on one foot.  Good exercise.  I looked at the Boy Scouts supply site online a couple of weeks ago.  I saw the Chinese scout knife was advertised as a Victorinox.  I guess AI compooters can't read tang stamps.
Next time I go to ACE I need to see if they still have BSA knives.  They used to have Tinkers or something.  Got to go there Monday anyway.  Best wishes.  G

In my day, you could only  purchase the authentic Boy Scout or Cub Scout knife from the local Boy Scout office.

I know Buck makes a Boy Scout labeled knife, as at one time do did CASE.   VICTORINOX I thought did as well internationally.   Some of these faded into being called Camp knives, just plain Scout knives.   To avoid Licensing fees.

That one is actually a Spartan, Tony.  I made sure I picked up the red jelly Spartan instead of the red jelly Tinker this time.  I lost my 84mm Spartan clone yesterday.  A Tourist.  I turned the house upside down looking for it and finally found it.  Did you ever get any snow up in Throgg's Neck?  Just a few flakes here one time.  Hardly enough to call it snow.  Best wishes.  Gary

My wife and my mother, each gifted me a spartan for my birthday. These are the only Spartans I own. The only thins closest to this model, that I owned was a Recruit.

One will go to the collection drawer and the other one for heavy use :D It's easy to guess which one I'll set aside  ::)

Mmmm,,,,?  I'm going to guess you will carry the camouflage Spartan.  Just don't leave it lying around outside.  These things will hide from you.  I like the cool Romanian one.  Two nice gifts.  Best wishes.  G

You are right Gary! I'll put a bright green glowing lanyard on the camo Spartan. Best scale pattern ever! Scratch it and it doesn't even show on it!  :D

I know I said to get some beans and flapjack mix for the camp.  That wasn't what I meant about 'bean'.  It's not all bad.  We can use the LL Bean Spartan to open the 4 pound can of mix.  Some syrup would have been good.  I'm just sayin.

Thanks to Magic for blowing the whistle to start Spartan Saturday.  I could easily get by with just carrying a Spartan every day.  I always have other tools around for heavier bolt/screw/hammering/scraping/filing/grinding/cutting/can opening/ prying/punching duties anyway.  A Spartan would fill in quite well for out walking around, shopping, convenience uses admirably.  I didn't mention singing, marching, and camping.... Maybe I better illustrate that last usage with a photo.  Best wishes.  Gary
