This is it. The last day. I somehow survived. I think I did a fair job of exploring the limits of this tool, and honestly think I have a good grasp on what it's capable of. I really think that someone with less need or want for tools would likely find this CAK perfectly adequate for most needs. I think it could work for years as someone's EDC. Just not me. The scissors alone kill it for me. The weak took retention from soft backsprings is another issue.

Anyone wanna guess what I'll be carrying tomorrow? :D

Thanks for taking one for the team!  :salute:

I would personally disagree using something like that for a 72 hrs kit, though. Weak tool retention and bad peening => unsafe => not something I would use in some sort of last ditch scenario.

Steinar. It HAD bad peening. Now it's fine. As for weak retention... well, not much I can do about it. And as to putting it in a 72-hour kit, I can say that it would serve any sane need for a blade for 72 hours. It will even take a bit of a beating. I did a fair amount of batoning with it. That's WAY beyond what this thing ought to face. My only concern is edge retention, and that's only with a lot of cardboard cutting. It handled half an hour of carving on hardwood without a problem. Would it be my preferred tool? No. I have better tools, and I'll be using them if I need to. BUT... if I have given away my best tools to other folks, and come to this thing, it's light years better than nothing. I feel confident in saying that it'll handle three days of fairly hard use. And if your options are this or a fist full of nothing...
