A friend pointed me towards this fascinating blog detailing the service and repair of all sorts of watches.  The guy does some amazingly fine and precise work as can be seen in these photos:




that's a pivot that he's made himself - 1mm long, Ø0.4mm in the centre with Ø0.1mm ends. :o

Dang. I think I'll stick to taking apart G-Shocks...even the smallest part on one of those isn't nearly as small as some of those parts. Big time respect to the people that do that kind of thing. It's no wonder they charge the big bucks.
