Well I suck. Took me about a dozen tries to get level 21 success. You'll never guess how simple the design was that finally did it for me.

Has anyone played this before?  http://fantasticcontraption.com/

It's a really simple game at the start, you have wheels, rods and a sort of water rope which you use to move an item from one place to another.  Starts off simple, you usually build sort of buggys to drive the item, but then the levels get more complicated and you have to build all sorts of crazy machines!  Once you realise you can build tank tracks, cannons and catapaults it really starts getting fun  ;)

Lets see what you guys can make, i won't post any of my contraptions yet because i don't want to ruin some of the levels for you, much better to go into them with an open mind about how to complete them, there are some amazingly inventive ways of doing some levels!

Oops, should have searched!  Didn't see it there! I've been hooked on it for a while now, some of the stuff you can do is amazing! Did you want to merge this with the other thread or has that died a death?

Yeah, I'm ready for more levels.  I suppose I could pay the fee and get all the user made levels....

I ran out of levels after an 11 hour playing session  :oops: So paid £5 for the full account and it's worth it, some of the levels people have made are fiendish!

I really like simple, effective design.  Here are a few of my favorite creations:

"Mind the gap" done w/3 pieces: http://FantasticContraption.com/?designId=927371

"Full Up" done w/4 pieces: http://FantasticContraption.com/?designId=927622

"Tube": http://FantasticContraption.com/?designId=914886

"Unpossible": http://FantasticContraption.com/?designId=926393

Agreed!! The super complex ones are fascinating, but I love elegent simplicity. :angel:

There ought to be some sort of contest system for entries with the fewest parts. :)

I really like that unpossible one, i spent ages trying to make a platform type solution but just couldnt get it to work!  I tend to try for simplicity at first and gradually build it up, my unpossible one started out nie and simple but i just kept having to add more and more wheels for more power!

My tube one is nice and simple  :)

tube:  http://FantasticContraption.com/?designId=853495

It just took ages to get it balenced right and the wheels positioned in the right place!  I've tried going back to that one and doing it other, more complicated ways and failed miserably  :D

Yeah, I like that tube one--I never could get the pieces quite tight enough to make that work.  Mine uses a "self-tightening" system with the wheel in the center, and can start off quite loose, actually and still work.

Thanks for the compliment on the unpossible one--I was quite proud of that when it was completed.  You know you're proud of your design when you watch it over and over again.  ;) :P
