I got to clean and fix my hat for a party I'm going to this weekend the top is standing up, what do I have to do to keep it up?
JR

Starch should work on the hat. If you are referring to yourself, a little blue pill...

Nice hats!
Have you tried just punching them out?

I just spent about 45min going over it with saddle soap, idk what it will do but hopefully give it a little form, thus why I took the coin jar and stuffed a shirt around it to push it out, then lifted the front and back up to give it curve, guess we'll see, oh and there's my everyday hat, with my JR symbol and other pins I stand for..

I think it turned out ok, looks twice as good it did 24hrs ago! It even fits better! I was even thinking of breaking out the Dremel with a cotton wheel thingy and go over it again. But if so what's the best stuff to use? I used saddle soap lastnight, but have some other stuff..

As promised, a pic. It fits much better. I think it was so dry, and can probably use a few more coats of oil, best part is I only paid $1 for that!

I never had to do it to mine, but the place I bought mine from also sold a cream to use, you basicly use a brush to clean it off then do what I just did to the hat, I still have the stuff. That's why I was debating on using that or saddle soap, but the hats leather so I wasn't sure if it would work?

Congrats on the quick receipt. I look forward to the pics  :tu:

Yesterday I ordered a tin of dressing and a cheapo £20 Barbour "style" jacket off the bay. If I take to the cheapo, I might indulge in something more expensive further down the line. The dressing if to have a go at treating the cotton jacket I mentioned earlier in the thread

£20?
Can you actually get a proper jacket for that?

You wanted pics. Here is one:

First impressions:
I love the way it feels like it will survive ww3.
Everything is stiched properly and there are pockets in all the right places. It has a "extensjon" (i dont know what its called)  on the back that alows me to move the arms and bend freely without it tightening around the back and arms.
Its a bit "oily" and smells a little of chemicals, but I think some airo g and use will fix that.

I have one question for our Australian members though. How cold is it in the winter down there? Its 8C here now (unusually warm) , and Im sweating in this jacket.  With a warm sweater under, wich it was designed for, I would melt.
