Farmer Mod

I am planning on a Farmer mod in the fairly near future.  Here is my question to you guys.  Should I place a reamer on the backside of the Farmer.  Pros-reamer can be for ruff use, saving the awl for light work.  It wouldn't take-up any extra room.  Cons-It is redundant.  It would be one less tool for future SAK mods.  Let me know what you think.  I am inclined to add the reamer....just because.

You'd need to add a 4th hole and a different backspring, wouldn't you? I think it is doable, but not easy...

It might be possible but it's not something I would try.  I think it would require you to adapt a back spring to fit the knife and would defiantly need a fourth pin hole for the tool to pivot on.  All in all I wouldn't say it was worth the hassle.

Maybe I need to look at this more carefully.  Without taking the scales off I just assumed the backspring for the can/bottle had the reamer added without needing anything but the three standard pins....apparently this is not the case.  I will look at it once I have it apart, if it is a big chore, Ill take the path of least resistance and skip it.  I guess I am in for a big learning experience.

You have to remember that you are dealing with two different Slipjoint patterns and frame sizes. The Cellidor 91mm knives are a sleeveboard pattern and the 93mm Alox knives are an equal-end cigar pattern.

The exception to this are the 84mm Cellidor and Alox knives, they are both sleeveboard pattern and share the same components. The only thing the 84mm Alox knives lack is the fourth pin used to retain backsprings used for spine tools.

I think it is possible (i.e. Scibeers alox with scissors) but not simple.  Have a look on the mod list over on SOSAK there might be a tutorial there.

Hi....a little bit about myself...um I do not listen well...and Im an idiot. 

So I couldn't picture how hard this would until I took apart the mechanic this am.  Lining it up on the Farmer I see just how the pliers will not fit with the current backspring.  I now understand the need for the two saw backsprings, which of course I do not have.  I am off to bed to have nightmares about this until I figure something out.
