I do love Lego Technic models. This Batmobile was a very nice kit to assemble. There was only a few times I misread instructions, or they were not clear enough...but I managed to figure out my mistakes. With 7 bags of parts, this one took me 2 days to assemble. Well worth the money. In fact, today, after completing the model, I thought it just might be the right size for a Batman action figure. I was right. I found one at the local Walmart where I got this kit. I think it adds a little extra to the model.

He looks good and actually fits inside this fairly large model.

There are 2 light bricks in this kit. Here is the one in the forward compartment which is activated if you move the throttle inside the cockpit.

The little action dude came with a nice little tableau that I decided to cut out from the rear of the packaging.

The model has a rotating knob located on the top of the roof. Turning this turns the front rack and pinion wheels. Pressing the rotating knob also activates the second light brick. This one illuminates the engine. Rolling the model forwards or backwards also rotates that rear wheel with all the flames, and also the pistons move up and down inside the clear engine.

I went back to Walmart and now have a Lego Technic Ford Shelby GT500 kit to build. This one is only 544 pieces with only 2 bags. This should not take me several days compared to the Batmobile.  :tu:

I picked up 3 new sets this week... I must be ill.

Technic batmobile (the one Chako posted earlier) for 65€ + 25% voucher to store account
Mandalorian helmet for 45€ + 25% voucher to store account
Fast and furious Dom's charger (also one Chako posted earlier) for 16€ I think it was.

Just under 100 for the 3 after refunds and credit.

That is a good deal.

I have also been busy building some more kits.

Third party Technic car. This was a hard model to build as the instructions were so small that I needed to use the zoom feature on my cell phone to read it.

It is a great set. I was amazed at how long the dragster is. I also forgot to take photos of 3 batmobile cars I recently made as well. Also currently making an off brand technic style Wallbot bought off of Amazon as a STEM RC toy based on Disney's Walley.

one of my favorite 3rd party brands is Cobi (made in Poland) I just ordered the big PT boat and I have a lot of their tanks. Cobi is not as good as Lego but close and getting closer and the price is nice  ;)

I also have a thing for brick tanks. I think I now have 5 models built so far.

Here is the latest, a WALLROBOT based shamelessly on Disney Pixar's WALL-E. I must say, it was a fun little build and the end product is good enough to display on a shelf. Remote control thread movement. The had rotates, and the arms are somewhat poseable. The hands can grip stuff...but the only thing RC about this guy is the movement of the threads.

I like the BlueBrixx designs (currently building the Astronomers Lighthouse).
Yeah Lego might still have the best bricks, although they are slacking (especially on color fidelity and prints) and the competition gets better. But quiet frankly, Lego sets are boring to build, they lack detail and are crazy expensive.

they (lego) are super expensive! totally agree but I have tried some cheaper brands (Chinese) and while they looked really nice with great detail the build experience was terrible, constantly fell apart during confusing assembly and if you tried handling it after parts flew/exploded apart! and terrible instructions that were so bad it did make me appreciate Lego more  ;)

Lego are also made in China (or now Vietnam). And you know the Chinese, they produce for everyone. So good chance that your non-Lego bricks come from the same factory ;)

So, falling apart is not a problem anymore, at least not with the established brands (Cobi, Xingbao etc.). Quality of the competition really has improved a lot in the past years.
Bluebrixx stones (I think they are Xingbao bricks, but I'm not sure)  hold together as well as Lego. They have the higher color fidelity. However, they have a fairly visible casting point from where the sprue was.

As for the instructions. Well, for many you can check out current instructions (download them as PDF, even Lego offers that :tu:), see if it suits you. From my experience they are good. However, they certainly use more advanced / complicated building techniques. At the end of the day, most now also have different difficulty/age levels.
I'm currently building Lighthouse of the Astronomer from Bluebrixx and it is a lot more difficult to build than anything I had from Lego. But it also has a completely different level of detail and not just on the outside, on the inside too. It is so much more fun than building Lego. Then remember that this costs about $240 (I actually paid $210 as Swiss VAT is much lower than German :D)
It wouldn't be the internet without people complaining.

Apart from the Christmas starwars Minifigures not really anything overly exciting to me... But I figured why not.

Need to stop buying and start building, but as my wife pointed out, no display cabinet to store in.

I ordered this one off of Amazon as I was intrigued by the model. The instructions are on par with Lego, and so are the bricks as far as I can tell. There was 1 little missing piece but they included another piece that seemed to work in the other's place...so no big deal there. The guy comes with a stand, and is very poseable. Makes for an awesome static piece for display.
