IT'S CHRISTMAS!!!

You know that can only mean 24 days of the Lego Star Wars Advent Calendar.  An extremely strong start with a Republic Gunship.  Absolutely no head scratching on this one; a very clear interpretation of an iconic craft.

I love how recognizable this is. Awesome little ship.
It wouldn't be the internet without people complaining.

Day 1 and I am already jealous of this calendar!

I thought about getting it, but in the end I decided not to because Lego is a slippery and dangerous slope!

That is a very, very cool way to start!

Day 2 brings us an excellent mini-fig.  Clone Trooper...commando?  Officer?  NCO?  Honestly I can't remember what the yellow details on the armour denotes.  :-[  Goes very well with yesterday's Gunship though.

Edit - a Commander if my Googling is up to snuff.  :D

I'll spare you the pain and tell you here if you want.

Yeah, the design and colour is in that group so I was thinking some kind of Droid as well.  The built "guide" on the advent door shows the thing standing upright, in an apparent effort to really throw you off.  ::)

Day 4 and it's clear we're sticking to the Old Republic theme.  I admit that I still had to look up the name; an Acclamator Assault Ship.  Predecessor of the classic Star Destroyer.

If it’s the Olympic it’s going to last longer than the Titanic or Britannic.

I soooo want the Titanic

But its price is too large for me ..... And so is the model iteself - You need a big house for that one!!   ;)   :)   :o

Just saw the Eiffel Tower too over the weekend - I wish they would stop making all these desireable models.
And have you see all the recent 'Adults Welcome' Lego ads - We have a lot of these on the telly at the momemt - They are targetting us folks!!

Maybe I'll just stick to the Advent Calendar

Day 5 was a Battle Droid.  They're pretty much a guarantee in these calendars, but no less "meh" for all that.

Day 6 and this is more like it.  Again, I have to admit that I couldn't place it at first, but there are so many ships with the same design aesthetic I don't feel too bad about it.  Once I knew what it was I had an "of course it is" moment.

Did you get it right?

Day 7.  If I didn't know what this is, then I have no reason to call myself a Star Wars fan.  Obviously Luke's Landspeeder.  The miss-matched engines are, I think, supposed to suggest a missing cowl from the port side, but I don't think it's a detail that really works in such small scale.

Edit - seems to be that we are done with the Old Republic theme.  I try really hard not to spoil the fun and look to see what we get every year, despite every seller trying to show the entire content ahead of time.  ::)

So after the first week of Advent I think I can safely say my favourite build was way back on day one, with the Clone Trooper Gunship.

I didn't guess the Bad Batch ship- I thought it was Darth Maul's ship, so you got me there.

I rather like the mismatched engine on Luke's landspeeder.  It really gives it character and makes it stand out a bit.

As for the Battle Droid....

Roger Roger.

Day 9.  First of the Christmas special Mini-figs.  C3PO with R2-D2 Christmas jumper.  I like the fact he's got the silver leg detail.  My daughter is all about the mini-figs but, for me, I find the ship builds far more interesting to do.

Day 10 and it seems we are still stuck in the sandy wastes of Tatooine.  A moisture 'vaperator might be vital to life, but is a little dull if you're a trapped farm boy.

Day 11 and we have a...second landspeeder!  I thought I knew what this one was but wasn't so certain that I didn't want to check.  It's a blink-and-you'll-miss-it speeder that you see when Luke and Ben are first arriving in Mos Eisley.  Neat build, if a little obscure.

Oh for goodness sake, I forgot one.

All the way back to Day 8 even.  At first I admit I thought it was another Imperial Shuttle of some kind, but given we're in the Tatooine phase of the calendar I wasn't surprised to find out that it's supposed to be Luke's T-16 Skyhopper.  The very think for shooting Wamp Rats.  Also extremely good training for flying an X-wing it would seem.  As a build I do question the very Imperial grey colour choice and the top "wing" is disproportionately thick.

Day 12 and 13 ('cos I'm really not being organised this year)

Yesterday you can even see Darth Vader in the background of my photo of the T-16.  Wearing fins and a summer tank top...obviously.  Jay's blog does a far better job of shooting the details than I've managed so I do recommend you have a look; https://jaysbrickblog.com/star-wars-2/lego-star-wars-advent-calendar-2022-countdown/#day12

Today I did manage to work out that this was supposed to be a sand castle (bucket and spade being a massive clue) but I failed to work out what it was based on.  My mind was stuck on Tatooine.

There is lots of sand for building castles on Tatooine!  :D

Very cool stuff- I must admit that I had been looking at Vader in swim fins in the previous photo and thought it would be cool if they actually did that... and lo and behold, there he was!   :D

As for the skyhopper being Imperial grey, why wouldn't it be?  After all, Luke was trying to go to the Imperial Academy at that point!

Star Wars would have been a very different series had Uncle Owen not successfully kept Luke on the farm!
