Here is a Compact that I modified, replaced corkscrew with phillips, replaced the hook with an awl and added aftermarket denim micarta scales.

replaced corkscrew with phillips

Considering that the world is held together with phillips screws and not corks, this is a great step in the right direction.   :tu:

 :iagree:
This has been my experience too; metric hex and Torx are now ubiquitous. I'm beginning to wonder when, other than bicycle-specific mt's, will have such a driver (perhaps a hex 4mm or a T10). But alas, the industry does not standardized sizes in their products like they did with phillips #1 and #2.

When visiting a sports shop in a small town here in Sweden I stumbled over some really nice Compacts (and Scientists).

The most intriguing part about the Compacts are that one of them might shed some light over the 91mm Golfer and Compact timeline. I am new here so correct me if there is reason for it.

The lot consists of:
One (1) Compact (labeled so on the box - 1.3405), no hook, groved corkscrew and no pin. Box labeled "52n" and "7" on the inner tabs. Scissor with screw
One (1) Compact no hook, groved corkscrew and with pin. Box labeled "52n" and "11" on the inner tabs. Scissor with screw.
Seven Compacts with hook, non-groved corkscrew and with pin - only, probably, differing from the current offering in the nailfile on the hook part. Scissors riveted and groove guide for the spring.

If anyone wants me to check anything to help in the timeline for Compacts - this might be a good opportunity.

Together with the Scientists:

edited the inner tabs numbers as I had switched them around in the text.
edit 2 info on the scissors
