I'm trying to resist buying a signal but it's my birthday today so might treat myself. I would like to handle one in a shop first though.

Would it be possible to add a pin to the other side too to make Signal tougher to open?
Like drilling a holes on the sides?
I kinda dislike the lock and the tool has a option for pin on both sides?

Yeah I got my Signal from Cutlery  :multi: :multi:Shoppe for $74.80 with free shipping (quickly also)...I think it is a great mid-size lightweight alternate to my Leatherman MUT (which I tend to EDC more when I need a heavier duty MT)...i can see the Signal becoming very popular in much the same way as my Skeletool (which my youngest Daughter now EDC's) due to its expanded capabilities...glad this thread was started

I concur...the Signal is a very visually striking multitool (as is the MUT)...the Leatherman designers let all the stops out on this one! :salute:

Yeah rishardh...ordered my Signal on a Monday and got in the mail on Wednesday (along with the candy--those folks at Cutlery Shoppe have the best price on the Signal and they are nice to deal with)...it is a very cool multitool for EDC... :multi:

Hey Monrouge...thanks for starting this club (not too many folks in my area are into multitools)...btw CS has the Signal for $74.80 and it includes the nylon case and shipping, Most other places I've seen are charging $99.00 dollars w/o case and $120.00 with the sheath...wonder if CS would ship over seas at a good rate, Anyways I really enjoy carrying and using my Signal...great tool for use around the house and Bike shop

From first seeing the signal, it hadn't appealed to me. Not because I thought it was a bad tool, but rather I am not in the market they are trying to pitch it to. I'm not an outdoorsman, backpacker, or bush crafter. I would love to, but life hasn't turned out that way. About a month ago I started a new job in the trades and I've noticed that there aren't many multi tool carriers. Strange to me. You'd think they would want to minimize as much weight as possible. Having this new occupation, I have realized what I prefer to carry has changed as well. Ergo, I've been experimenting more on different carry options. This morning was the first day the signal really started to appeal to me. Minus the removable yellow pieces, it actually hits what I need most. Pliers, blade (although I wouldn't mind a 154cm pe blade), saw (cutting drywall), awl (one of the glaring problems with the wave), bit driver, can opener (in case of lunch emergencies) and hammer (putting bushings on conduit, light tapping, ect...)

If there is a way to replace the rod/whistle piece for maybe extra bit storage and lose the file, for me personally, it makes this an ideal tool for what I'm doing. Working construction, away from dedicated tools most of the day, up on ladders...a true tradesman tool. I wanted to put all this up to point out how easy marketing can make us forget the versatility of what these tools are really meant to be. I want one now. A few tweaks sure, a 154cm blade as a bonus, and I can see this being a bona fide contender for serious work. Now the hunt begins   :ahhh

Same here Demel as it relates to the target market aspect.  I'm not in the least bit the type of person this is intended for, in terms of outdoors activity that is.  In terms of a customer who's curiosity gets the best of him though however, that would be me ;)  I'm still glad I let it happen though, as it's still one of my favorites.  Good luck with the new job too :tu:

Thanks. Eventually I'll get my hands on a signal and test out my theory. Time will tell

Eventually happened for me

In hand I'll say its an attractive tool.  I think the Skeletool need a refresh after having this tool in hand.  I also feel the tool demands the Molle sheath as opposed to the nylon one.

Thanks  :tu  so far I like it.  I played with it just a bit but so far so good.  As far as the target market, well, I don't know anymore .  Aside from the obvious ferro rod/whistle it really isn't much of a "survival tool".  It does appear to be a small MUT more so.  I'm going to take it out tomorrow along with my MUT.

I do think it would have been amazing in orange or yellow or some bright color.  Contradicting myself  I would have liked to see it in cammo too.

One of my tools I haven't actually used that much. The set just seems lacking. I still like it but I guess its waiting more serious usage.
It still might be one of the looking MTs ever made and I love the lock that keeps it shut.

I was working with my Signal pliers and dropped it on concrete.  It bent the lock so that I had to do some surgery to get it to lock again.  It
is actually a potential weak point on the tool as it turns out.
