I've always loved those Damascus blades and the different colors of the Signal.  That looks good Poncho!

Can anyone help.  I’m thinking of buying a Signal but I’ve noticed that in some of your pictures the the black oxide coating is starting to come off in the pliers or blades.

For those of you with the black tooled versions have you experienced any issues with this?

Not on a Signal but on a MUT and a Surge. I think it adds to the character of the tool.

Yes with use the black will began to fade.  Its really quite lovely unless you enjoy tools that always look new  :salute:

Hood3dvillain that is a wonderful collection.  Poncho, Juan  :tu: good looking tools.

The Signal is another LM that is wonderfully collectable with all the variety the came out with.

You will have to make peace with the way black oxide wears if you want to buy black oxide tools :salute: some of the plier heads rub and some don't  black oxide will wear off some no matter what on a tool but they gain character as they are used and age  once you get past that (some never do) then you won't see it as a bad thing :D :tu:

Thanks for the replies.  It’s not the general wear that bothers me it’s the scraping patterns the tools make.  I think I’ll go with one without black oxide on.

Yes, for sure :tu: if that is the part that bothers you then the stainless is the way to go  They both have their pluses and minuses and wear differently.  I think the stainless probably rubs the same way but is way less noticeable  :salute:

Not to rain on your parade Mooseman 40 but, even non oxidized ones develop such a pattern; tools with very close tolerances between pliers (for example, as it can happen within adjacent tools) and inner liners/handles/scales will scrape their surfaces. See (clockwise from upper left) my 2nd. Gen. Wave, Signal and Rebar. Although barely visible, the Rebar has them also only right under the "L", where the necking of the handle to mate with the pliers happen.
