The coating feels thin but solid enough. The overall feel is nice, silky, sexy, nnr,... :dd: .... Actually it feels OK, but I have no idea how tough it is.

Thanks for the enlightening :D Exactly what you'd expect from rubber.

One big plus no one mentioned are the stainless steel liners. No more oxidized aluminum as on Vic & Wenger.

I am liking these more and more, I have to keep my eyes peeled when they land on Amazon.  A locking blade is very nice, and at slightly larger than a Pioneer, not too shabby either.

Any chance to give us a top view pic of a Pioneers vs the D03?  I am curious how much extra girth the scales and lock give the sak.

Cheers!

as shown it is a linerlock, released with a wenger style push button on the cross.

the lock is in addition to the backspring (slipjoint system, like a normal victorinox, Wenger)

Ignoring the lock, how strong is the backspring?  I'm wondering about the possibility of cutting off the lock to make it an ordinary slipjoint.  Is there enough resistance in the spring to make it safe to use like that?

It is about a strong as a regular Victorinox backspring and feels stronger than the ones on Wenger.

The Swiss makers always emphasised that the lock was just for extra safety, from what I recall.

True, though this certainly isn't the case with Vic's OHO models. I think the sping on those really only provides strong resistance during use but it's mainly the linerlock that keeps the blade open. Good thing they come with a tang large enough to put one's finger on it.

I did not have a pioneer near by, but here are a couple of pictures with a harvester and a pruner..The D03 is about the same thickness as a harvester/farmer so it is definitely thicker than a pioneer.

Thanks for the pics.  Three layer alox is about a think as I like it, so the Swiz should be ok!

I wonder if they will have a model with scissors? (although my alox classic already has those).

Few weeks ago I was in Munich and saw in a cutlery shop the complete Swiza line.
I bought myself a D03 too.

I am sure, in the future, as scales get damaged, they will need to find a way to replace them, either by selling spares or by having them sent to the dealer/manufacturer.

So I have continued carrying it daily, mainly using the blade, with no problems
I just wash it well afterwards, and I do think that it is time Vicelemond  :P  started using SS liners instead of aluminium, like the original Land Rover  :D

today I used the bottle opener, and it worked just as well as the one one on Victorinox/Wenger
No bending or other issues, and the shape of the body made it comfortable to pull the cork out.

and the LE model, for those interested

Posted by our friend.

Thanks for this advertizing DKS ! I just hope that it will not attract the anger of the moderators.

I only want to explain this series is not created to win money, but to celebrate the birth of Swiza in the familly of the Swiss Cutlers,  like in december 2013 we created the series "Bye Bye Wenger in homage to the cutler Wenger.
The "Bye Bye Wenger" was the last numbered series of Wenger, we thought it will be fair to initiate the first numbered series of Swiza.
If in the future is born another Swiss cutler (which I wish), our motivation will be the same.

I'm also very happy that this topic is more positive than others for Swiza...

Like DKS, I also tested the SWIZA D03. I use it since 3 weeks and I made the first photos.
All tests were made in "normal conditions", not hard and not soft, this is a knife to be used, not only to put in a showcase, but it's not anyway a knife for "survivalists", so I didn't try to force tools to break or to deteriorate them...

The Can-opener + small screwdriver : first the Can-opener

No problem, it works well as you can see. I don't like these can-openers "Victorinox new style", I prefere former can-openers of Victorinox which also used by Wenger until the end. I think that after 10 or 20 can opening, the screwdriver will be deteriorated like on Victorinox knives.
But I appreciated the length of this tool, it's easier to use and it minimize the risks to deteriorate the scales.

Before this test, I tried to screw and unscrew an electric plug, but I thought it was too easy, so I decided to screw (with screws already used) a coat hook in a old oak door. It was a little hard, but...

At this moment I force a little...
This is the end !...
And the last 1/8 turn !

Well it's possible ! To be honest I prefere a real philips screwdriver, But it works.

After these tests the photos of the tool :

Still like new !

The corkscrew : This cork is a little hard (a bottle of old Banyuls), no problem, it works too ! And the ergonomy of the knife is good and confortable to do that.

The blade : Do not forget I use this blade every days since 3 weeks, to open my letters, to cut meat and other foods and to cut also lot of things.
Its cutting-edge remained excellent !

Vertical cut of paper (like japonese Katana LOL !)

hairs of the arm of the blue bear…

Next step in some days, the awl and the Cap-lifter + large screwdriver....

Should I be using the Swiza to carve a roast? Possibly not.
Can I?  lets see..

I cooked two large tasty joints from a farmers "private reserve"

The container shown is about 52cm long and 40cm wide and it just fits in my oven.

Not the ideal tool, but the large, sharp blade worked well and was reasonably easy to clean, apart from some pesky little bits that got wedged between the blade and the liners

I agree, in fact when you use this knife to eat, you obtain same little problems with other knives about same tools configuration (Victorinox Spartan or Wenger Commander). The difference is only the larger and sharp blade of the Swiza knife.
But to cut this wonderfull roast, it's better to use a bigger knife !
Like you, I think the knife is easy to wash and the hole does not create real problem to clean the blade.

Next test the cap-lifter and the large screwdriver : First the large screwdriver...

On my cellar door (my house was built in 1830's), I tried to unscrew and screw 2 types of screws...

A°) unscrew and screw one screw of the lock :

It was not so hard...

B°) unscrew and screw one screw of the handle :

The screw side...

The handle side...

The screw... (I added some oil...)

And... It's finished !

It was hard, but it worked !

The cap-lifter is the best to test : As we say in my country, "after exercise, pleasure !"

This cap-lifter is the best tool to have a drink in the company of this lovely Alsatian !

I may have missed the post, but are there any Swiza dealers in the US yet. The Swiza website doesn't list any.
