I know the metal file has changed some over the course of time but I don't know all the changes or if there is a way of identifying a new metal file 100%. Can you kind ladies and gentlemen fill me in?Thanks.

Thanks for the replies. I had previously been under the impression that the old file was straight across the tool near the pivot and the new one formed a peak with the texture. Or did they make some of the older version with the crossed texture as well? I've seen some that look much shinier but that could be age or use.
My apologies. I was checking on my phone and completely missed the link. Thanks for making it extra obvious so I wouldn't miss it again. Additionally, I was not previously aware of that link. How have I gotten this far without it?

How have I gotten this far without it?No prob You're in the right place and we're here to help you, and, as you're interested in metal saw/file, you're doing very well Btw, metal file/saw is mandatory tool, so you for sure need (at least) another (SwissChamp apart) SAK with metal saw/file, perhaps TrailGuide, so then you can upgrade to "Yeoguide" (Image removed from quote.)

That would be my favorite set of tools! If you want to get rid of that one, I'm lusting for a Yeoguide and would adopt one. (seriously; PM me if you're interested)

Looking forward to some tinkering in the new year.
