Day 31-
I made it!

It's hard to say anything original about a tool as well known as the Surge, but I'll go ahead and toss in my 2 pennies;
It's a really good tool. We all know the facts about Leatherman's declining quality control over the years, but my personal example of the Surge is absolutely top notch. The blades came sharp, the lockup is solid. All the implements operate smoothly. My favorite features have to be the scissors, which are tough as nails on top of being outside accessible, and the serrated blade, which is big, super aggressive and does its job effortlessly. The Surge is huge, no doubt about that. Its weight is hard to ignore. For this reason it spends more time in my pack than on my belt. But for that weight you get a
lot of functionality, and the tool feels nearly indestructible. Mine saw some use as a crude hammer through the month with no ill effects. I also may have dropped it a few times...
As a guy with just slightly above average size (at most) hands, the Surge is almost too big, but not quite. The size is something to be aware of when considering a purchase. I would definitely recommend finding a way to fondle one before you pull the trigger, as it's a fairly expensive MT.
Moving forward, the Surge will definitely remain in my MT rotation, despite its bulk. The features are just nearly perfect for my needs.
I had a good time following everyone's threads this month. We really have a diverse group here, and it's fun to see how people different from myself go about their day and make use of their MTs.

Once again I want to thank everyone who took the time to read my dull posts, and especially our gracious hosts Obi and MTO for making this all possible.
For my final crappy photo (in this thread anyway) the Surge posed with something special (to me); my first real gun, given to me by my father many years ago.
