Poncho, I'm sure you're not talking of the corkscrew, metal blade, bit driver, long shanked driver or mini awl, do you!?!?!
Thanks Poncho! Most definitely agree on the pencil use. I'd go so far as to say maybe one-time deals; my examples are #2/HB leads that are easily "consumed", and I will not bother trying to resharpen a stubbed stub (well, maybe on an emergency like, forgot birthday/anniversary card )! But useful indeed.
or ... encapsulate the refill with 2-part epoxy after light coat of silicone grease (as a release agent), allow to dry and file/sand/grind to desired shape and presto! Leatherpen is born!! Thanks pfr!!!
Very well done, love that awl! Here's another idea: get a pen from a 58mm SAK. Slice open lengthwise that small pencil, remove the graphite and replace with the pen. Glue the wood together and try it out. *Take pics and let us know if it worked. * you can use a cheap plastic refill, from a BIC or similar and cut it down to size.
You can use one of the bits to create a mold for the epoxy.Remember to punch a little hole in the back of the epoxy, to let the air in and allow for the ink to run.
(...)I can do some measurements to see if it would fit lengthwise
