I did a bit of gardening this morning, a good chance to test some new long protective gloves.

Advertised as thornproof, cutproof, stingproof.

They’re useless.

Very tempted to chop them in to tiny pieces with the Raptor and post them back to the supplier.

Well that's disappointing and a total waste of time and money.  I'd be petty enough to cut them up and send them back anonymously with no postage paid, so at least the seller is out of pocket.   >:D >:(

I think that might weaken your case for complaint    :pok:

But very frustrating - And I gotta admit they do not look too robust - You'd expect a rubber coating for those sort of claims

Got this at a deep discount from Barnes and Noble....so often with toys I find myself pulling the CyberTool off my desk but for this the body was too fat (like my own). So my primary EDC did the trick and perfectly.

I work in and around gorse, barberry, hawthorn, blackberry and bush lawyer on a daily basis and I am yet to find any glove that is 100% thornproof.
However, welding gloves are the best I have used for dealing with prickly things.

My Leatherman Style CS is the only one I use nearly every day.  The scissors are quite good for everything from opening packages to trimming stray threads.  The nail file has a good screwdriver tip on it, that works great for tiny slotted and Phillips screws.  The blade is tiny, but usually good enough for most small jobs.  I keep it on a belt loop, which is very accessible and convenient, using the combination carabiner/bottle opener.  I can't imagine being without one.

I volunteered at a bike ride yesterday and used the awl and wire cutters on my Rebar to attach my number to my bike with zip ties. Then used the plain blade to cut off my event bracelet when I got home.
I knew my wife was a keeper when she transitioned from calling it a knife thingy to a multi-tool.

Got back from work, just in time to salvage this rock climbing grip that has been attached to a board that was part of our shed. We're having new doors installed, and the workers had tossed the board with the grip into a dumpster. Clearly they are not cllmbers... but me and the missus were, once upon the 90s, and the grip was a tongue-in-cheek wedding present from friends. So out with the Supertool 300 and dumpster diving! Would have been a shame to lose a funny memento from the time when we were young and fit.

Tig wire? As in a TIG welder?

Tig wire? As in a TIG welder?

I’m a pipe welder by trade. I snip the end of the tig wire after running a weld bead. Snipping the filler wire aids in cleaner restarts.

Tig welding (Gtaw) is the welding process. Tig wire is the filler metal. Copper nickle (CUNI) base material welds cleaner with filler wire (RN67) that doesn’t have oxides on the end of the filler wire.
Any base material type and filler wire welds a lot cleaner with snipped ends on initial restart of a weld bead. And also keeping the filler metal (tig wire) within the shielding gas (argon), is key to a quality weld. Especially on none ferrous materials.

Hope I didn’t over explain. Lol

Or I completely insulted you because you already knew this stuff. Hope not.

My Curl assisted me with installing new sconces in the dinning room.  Per the wife’s request.  :tu:

Bathroom fan conked out. I bought a replacement to salvage the motor and fan from a new unit and used the Leatherman rev I got for free from attending a webinar to grip the housing during the install and the Phillips.

Though I think in the future I'll be more patient and just order the same model and just replace the motor and plate as 1 unit. Easier and less wasteful as I threw away the new parts I didn't need like the housing.
