Spey blade?
on: August 26, 2008, 01:23:26 AM
So i've been looking at some of the different Case Stockman knives, and I have to ask, what do people use a spey blade for. Seems I would much rather have the small pen blade in the place of the spey blade. Maybe you can convince me otherwise.

well i dont wonder they recommend it for carving since that very rounded tip of the blade would be really nice to steer while carwing and is capable to do pretty tight curves on surface.

Ah that was a nice and really handy guide.

So, what kind of utility does a spey blade have in the world of the modern city?

cuttin gaskets, makin halloween pumpkins :D,i donno....its like a small tiny "leuku" blade so it should be very handy in just about everything that requires a lot of work with that round tip.its most likely nice to cut all kinds of tight shapes/curves in just about anythin.

I got nothing against the small vic Penknife, but I do enjoy the Spey.

It is a good shape, and maybe you are less likely to damage the tip?

I generally use it for the same things I use the small penknife on a Vic for - the nasty tasks I do not wish to risk the main blade on - either due to potential for damage, or just gunkiness.

I'm also a big believer that you only need to use a knife as big as you need to use, and big pointy blades are for blokes with either.

a. something to compensate for.
b. a fetish for injuries, or
c. a higher pain tolerance than me.

The spey blade was made for castration of animals, most found on stock knives or cattlemen knives, some people like them for peeling apples, and opening letters, because it don't seem as dangerous as a pointed blade,(not my opinion),hope this helps. :salute:
