Damn that sucks!

Before you go back for surgery, scrub up that leg really well, and consider doing a little pre shaving, if you can do it without cutting yourself.  Anything you can do to reduce risk of infection is a good thing.

Hopes to a fast and healthy recovery, you keep breaking that foot and eventually you'll need a bionic one!

I'm thinking bionic ankle/foot with built in lights and multitool holder ;)

Is the city going to cover any of the cost?

Damn that sucks.  I know how frustrating it feels to be laid up and not being able to do what you need to.

You'd going to need to wear boots with build in ankle braces so yout cant break anything again.  That might be awkard for summer though.

It's in a cast so I really can't do much to get started or I would.

That's what happened to me the last time I broke an ankle, except the emergency on my end was a bunch of idiots flying passenger planes into the World Trade Center.  Needless to say, being hungry was not too high up in my mind.

This time I also wasn't that hungry- I'm eating more simply because I know I should than for any actual hunger reasons.

I can't comment on what, if anything the city will or won't do at this point.  I actually don't know yet what this is all going to entail.  I will know more after the surgery tomorrow.

As for the multitool aspect, I always said that the screws used in my other foot were Robertson head screws, so if it ever caused me problems all I'd need to remove it is a bottle of tequila and a SOG Powerlock!  :P

Let's hope the new screws match!

Although I can't help thinking that the owner of a multitool forum should be operated on with multitools  :think: Open with Gerber Artifact, metalwork with Powerlock and the Remgrit blade in a MP600, close with the stapler on a Business Tool...... either that, or delay the op till Syph can get all the titanium re-anodised, and arrange some torx pivots

I hope you get better soon and I really, really hope this doesn't cause you problems in the future.  With all my old broken bones I know when the weather is changing without looking outside.  I wouldn't get a cold steel cane, they're all plastic.  I'd get a real Irish Blackthorn.  I use one everyday.

Thanks everyone.  I'm just getting ready to go in for the surgery now.  My ride will be here in an hour or so.  I had kind of a rough night with pain and all but the Percoset they gave me just seems to make me dizzy rather than dull the pain so I haven't bothered taking it.

I'm pretty tired, but in a couple of hours I'll be in a pretty deep sleep so I guess I'll make up for it then!  :P
